Chapter Twelve Day Twelve It was dark, and very quiet. Kimberley had no idea why she’d happened to wake up just now. She had even less idea why it was so hard to get back to sleep. Next to her, in the narrow bed, not-Barbara stirred once and was still. They were both naked, and some residual modesty kept them back-to-back, even though it wasn’t the most comfortable position for them. Worse yet, not-Barbara had a habit of hogging the covers. Kimberley would have cheerfully dumped her out onto the floor, but not-Barbara was a bit bigger and stronger than she was. Sighing, Kimberley rolled onto her back and looked up towards where the skylight was. There was a very faint light coming through it, so faint that she could only detect it out of the corner of her eye. It disappeared completely
