Third Person’s P.O.V. “Nat…… Nat….. help…. Help.” I heard her screaming while looking around frantically. Nathan wanted to go to her immediately and pulled her in his embrace to make her feel safe, but his feet were completely struck in thick mud, and he felt like drowning deeper with every passing second. “Don’t panic, Cynthia…. Don’t panic… I am coming,” he yelled at the top of his lungs while trying hard to pull himself out of the pool of mud, and his attempts were futile. It was raining heavily and there was complete darkness around them. Suddenly, his eyes widened in horror when he saw some dark shadows looming over her. Cynthia was crying frantically while holding her grown-up belly tightly. She was scared to death that Nathan could feel, but she was more worried about their unborn child than her life. She was sitting on the ground, completely out of strength. Her eyelids were heavy, but she forced them to stay open. “I am coming to you, love… I am coming to you… ju… just don’t sleep,” Nathan yelled when he saw exhaustion taking over her mind and body. At the same time, those dark shadows started approaching her. “Don’t you dare touch her.” Nathan roared at them, threatening them in the process, but all of them snickered while showing their dirty teeth. He couldn’t see a thing making their faces but their teeth and their sinister smiles. “Nathan…. Why… why di… did you leave me alone? Wh… why did you kill me?” Cynthia asked him in an exhausting tone, filled with sorrow and heartbreak. He shook his head frantically, denying the accusation. Tears were now streaming down his eyes like a waterfall. He wanted to end their marriage, but he never wanted her dead…. He couldn’t want this…. She was his lawfully wedded wife... They might have so many problems in their relationship, but he never ever thought about hurting her physically. He just couldn’t bring this to himself. “Remember…. It’s you who asked us to hurt her.” One of those shadows mocked me while laughing sinisterly. I wanted to yell at him for spouting lies, but someone strangled my neck. I felt suffocated and helpless now. My hands were also now stuck in the mud. The water level around us was now rising dangerously. I panicked once again when I saw her body drowning under the water. She lost her strength and now was lying on the ground. There was no light in her eyes now. She was now looking at me with dead eyes. Those shadows started circling right over her head, and a shadow kept on squeezing my neck. “Leave her…. Leave her,” I yelled once again, but my voice didn’t come out of my throat. Suddenly they all started howling over her, making my heart stop beating due to dreadful anticipation. Her body started convulsing in front of me. “Cynthia.” I screamed at the top of my lungs in fear….. fear of losing her for real…. “Cynthia.” I screamed at the top of my lungs in fear once again when they started consuming her body and shot opened my eyes. I immediately sat up and looked around frantically. My whole body was now covered in sweat while I was breathing heavily. The room was pitched dark, just like the darkness inside my heart, engulfing my soul completely. Another nightmare….. I wanted to close my eyes but couldn’t. Her lifeless eyes had been haunting me since the day she left me……. With our baby…. “Yeah….. our baby…. that you asked her to abort.” My inner self taunted me once again. I wanted to refute it, but I couldn’t because it was true. I moved towards the nightstand and switched on the night lamp there. I felt tears in my eyes when her smiling face appeared in front of me. I took this photo secretly one day when she was watering the plants in the garden. The crystal blue eyes were full of life and happiness. I took the photo-frame from there and kissed her face. “I am sorry…. I am really sorry…. Please come back.” I pleaded to her once again in a choked tone. I knew that she couldn’t hear me now, yet I wanted to tell her how regretful I was now. I wanted to tell her that all I wanted now was her back in life, but I knew that she wouldn’t come back…. She couldn’t come back. 10 hours later, in my office:- “If they think that they can make me bend to their demands, they really underestimate me,” I smirked slyly while looking at the proposal sent by the board of directors of my company. These old hags thought so highly of themselves. “It has been four years since she …. She,” Theo, my best friend, said to him, but stopped in the middle of the sentence when I glared at him coldly. Theo took a deep breath while looking at me sympathetically. I hated that look in his eyes. So, I looked in the other direction. “You know very well that she can’t come back, Nathan.” He persuaded me once again, and I dug my nails in the cushion of the armrest. “Just transfer those shares to you for the time being if you still think that she will be back at any time in the future. Transfer back to her when she comes back,” he continued, but I scoffed in the end. “Nathan.” He groaned in frustration, but I stood up and went towards the mini-bar that I had in my office. I poured some wine into two glasses and walked back to the couch. “It has been six years since she…. She,” he paused when I gave him a stern look while giving him a glass. “She is not dead, Theo. I know what I saw, but deep in my heart, I still have this hunch that she managed to escape that disaster,” I replied to him in a stern tone. I sat down on the single seat and took a gulp from the glass. He didn’t say a word again, and I was glad that he didn’t persuade me further. “Let me talk to Alfred about this. I am sure that there is something that we can use to salvage this situation,” Theo said with a sigh after some time. “No need…. I already know what to do,” I answered him coldly while looking at the blank spot in front of me. “What are you going to do?” he asked me suspiciously this time. I didn’t answer him, but I finished my glass. I picked up the phone and dialed my PA’s number. “Send the circular to everyone about an urgent shareholder meeting tomorrow by 10.” I instructed him coldly while looking at the same point with determination. "Okay, Mr. Lombart." he answered me formally. I was about to hang up when he cleared his throat, gaining my attention. "What is it?" I asked him coldly. "Ms. ..... Ms. Winters called me a few minutes ago. She asked if you are available to go to a charity gala tonight with her." he answered me in a low and cautious tone. I clenched my jaw tightly. "I have told you so many times, and now I am instructing you one last time, Chris." I replied in a stern and cold tone. "You don't need to entertain her. You are my employee, not hers. If.... if you can't do this... you better resign and join her." I continued in the same tone. "I... I understand, Mr. Lombart.... I... I will take care of the matters, a... and I apologized to you sincerely," he replied to me while stammering hard, making me hang up immediately. She was now getting on my nerves.
