Chapter 8. Merfolk

Darren's pov( Point Of View)

I raced to the edge of the Clyde river in wolf form Susan sped past me with her damn vampire speed bluffing at me while passing me, I rolled my eyes at her antics. Stopping to catch my breath when I reached the bank of the river. I could run fast didn't mean I wouldn't get tired after running Susan of course could not resist a moment to tease me.

" aww you poor dog running all those laps took a big toll on you yeah, here doggy," she said appearing in front of me suddenly tapping my head as if I was some dog,

I was annoyed before I could react and swat her had she moved away damn the vampires and their damn speed. Susan was not struggling to catch her breath like I was , vampires had it easier than us they could run for miles and would not get tired, perhaps being the dead undead had its perks.

Vugo had it easy than all of us he simply appeared at the river bank rubbing salt to injury ,when he smiled at me I frowned walking towards the edge of the river.

" whats up with him?" I heard him ask Susan my ears perking up

"let's just say he is not happy being a werewolf today," she said loud enough for me to hear and I could bet my Alpha title that she had a smile on her lips.

I picked a few pebbles by the sea throwing them in the water, stupid vampires and stupid merfolk I thought,

"hay what are you doing!" Susan shouted speeding to meet up with me trying to stop me from throwing the pebble in the river but it was too late I threw it with all the strength I had simply because she told me not to. Infuriating Susan was a hobby of mine.

Soon enough the water began to whirl, swirling and a figure came out, a mermaid resting on the stone close to the river bank she had the most beautiful eyes that looked like green and then blue. I had ever seen and her skin was unspotted save for the freckles that adorned her beautiful face hair her lips were a flushed red she was beautiful and I could not stop staring.

" ah the lords of the order," she said with disdain

almost immediately a man , a merman came out of the water he had muscles that would put Dwane Johnson to shame.

" Azura you should have informed me before coming ashore," He said to the mermaid his voice booming in a thunderous yet gentle tone. Susan Pinched me

" see what you have done now" she whispered

  "How was I supposed to know the pebbles would call them out?" I asked incredulously hoping to make her feel stupid. She scrunched her nose up and folded her arms.

" ah the lords of the order," The Merman said acknowledging us, his voice was accompanied with the waves of the river it sounded like the waves of the ocean was crashing in on us, I had to look round just to be sure. He caught me staring around and smiled I would not have seen the smile if I was not paying close attention particularly because of the mermaid that was beside him.

" King Tritan, it's an honour to be graced with your presence," I said walking forward my Alpha instincts coming to play, he slightly nods his head at my greetings.

" you were summoned here not by the Queen but by me, I think its time my daughter Azura played her role in the order. " He said swimming his large tail around which caused water to crash on one of the rocks in the rivers. I heard Vugo swallow audibly and I would have chuckled if I did not value my head.

News of King Tritans temper has been passed on as horror stories. King Tritan once cut the tongue of one of his advisors for whistling at his wife. I was not about to play around and find out if he could cut off my head as well.

His daughter Azura, however, did not seem happy about joining the order, unlike her father who spoke about it with such calm and gladness.

" It would be an honour to have her join us," Susan said in response his eyes seemed to appreciate her remarks.

" it is settled then Azura will also join you at the school" he said floating Azura to the edge of the river where we stood with a flick  of his hand.

I wanted to ask how she could join us if she did not have legs but I was amazed when her tail turned into two beautiful feet.

" Azura you have my blessings " he said and dived into the river causing a thunderous splash.

Azura looked unhappy to be with us , she looked like she would rather be anywhere than here.

" Hello Azura" Susan said

holding her hands behind her back paddling on her feet with  a smile allowing her fangs to flash slightly which caught Azura's attention she looked surprised, though I wondered why she would be surprised since anyone that knows about the order knows that it comprised of 5 a werewolf, a vampire, a fae , an elf, and the Zagrin. Although we are originally intended to be 7 the Mermaid and Nymph had yet to join us. Now that Azura has joined us only the Nymph is left to fulfil the prophecy.

" wow the legends are real" Azura gasped in a voice that made me want to hear her speak for the rest of my life which thinking about it , sounded weird.

Susan chuckled so did Vugo.

" I am sorry it's just I have never been ashore all my life, or at least I have not met any other creatures apart from humans and merfolk" she said coming closer to Susan looking at her with admiration.

I could not blame her Susan was not hard to look at , she had pale skin and flushed lips her beauty was ethereal. Susan smiled at her

" Nah its fine" she said with a smile.

 I cleared my throat" if I may my lady, I am Darren the Alpha of the werewolves" I said in a gentleman like manner, she looked me over with a blush staring at my pectorals, I cleared my throat which seemed to catch her attention

" Nice to meet you, Darren, you already know my name Azura," she said with a smile I shook her hand not missing a chance to touch her beautiful hands.

Vugo came forward staring at Azura as though he was trying to remember something she looked him over at first and then burst into a large smile

" Hugo?!" she asked with a smile

his eyes widened " yes ! I knew I had seen your face somewhere !" he said with a large smile on his face.

Azura chuckled" it was at the magic fair you silly," she said

and engulfed Vugo in a hug I groaned, Vugo is my least favourite person now.

" Hugo, ?!" I asked incredulously bursting into a fit Susan chuckled behind me as we walked towards Rankeda High. We stopped in our tracks when we saw smoke protruding from the portal block.
