The Alpha's Lost Son book 3

Chapter 4

Throughout school, I've been dating Bailey in front of people but on the side, behind close doors and away from people, I've been seeing my mate. The good thing about us being on different floors of each other is that his bed room is right above mine, so he can just climb out his window and climb down into my room.

We would do this almost every night or at least 4 nights a week. And I was happy either way. But when out so called girlfriends stay with us, we can't. We would just talk to each other in our heads while the girls were asleep. We felt like it was cheating on each other but since we knew it wasn't.

At first it was hard on us but once we knew what we were doing and how we had it handled, it wasn't a big deal. Just don't get caught.

Easier said then done, I should say. We do our runs like always and take our showers only getting interrupted in the process as one of the guards knocking on the door to come pee. One night, we were in the woods by the river and we were middle of doing it and patrol had caught us. We just told them we were middle of running in our wolf form when I got sick and had to shift.

I only wish he could let the pack know. Because one of these days were gonna slip up and do something and not know what to say or do about it.

One day we went on a date to a restaurant a few towns away just to be alone. It was nice to finally be alone to ourselves. As well sat across from each other holding hands as we look at the menu to see what we wanted. Sneaking a few kisses here and there on each other hands. It was like two school girls doing something they shouldn't but do it anyways.

When our waitress came over to get our orders, we stared into each others eyes. Lost in the world that plays around us.

"Did you know when your happy, your hazel eyes turn a violet color a little bit?" He told me.

"No, I didn't know. I know they turn purple when I'm either pissed off or I'm alert." I told him.

"Like the day you shifted. They were bright purple and they were actually cute." He said as he rubbed my hand. "I remember the alpha saying that the moon goddess gave them to you or to your parent or parents. Do you know what they are?" He asked.

"That I don't. My father told me that I could sit in my room and try to meditate to the moon goddess herself to see what they are." I had said.

"Maybe if you do that, you can reach your parents."

"I thought about that, but I don't wanna reach them. I feel like once I found out the truth what happened, I won't like it and things will change." I had said as I let go of his hands and sat back in the booth.

Just as our food and drinks came, we dug in and enjoyed ourselves. We talked more about what we would do once school ended. I told him what I want to do is with my mate but I can't. When he asked what it was, I told to travel for a bit before he became beta. But we both had girlfriends and things would be weird.

"Can I ask you, when are we gonna come out?" I asked him once again like a millionth time.

"DJ, I don't know." He said as he tighten his grip on the steering wheel.

"We've been secretly about our relationship since I was 13 years old. And us going out behind everyone back is starting to get old." I said as I looked at him. "Its been almost 4 years and, and I love you. I just want to be with you."

"Devin, please stop. I told you we can't not yet."

"Then when?" I yelled at him.

My wolf must have gotten mad about this because I felt him trying to take over with my powers. I grabbed my head with my hands to hold the pain.

"DJ, what's wrong?" He asked me.

"Don't touch me." I growled.

"Excuse me?"

"I said don't touch me." I growled again and this time I looked at him.

I felt my canines started to growl out a little and I felt my eyes change colors. I could feel myself becoming my wolf while I was in the car.

Phil pulled the car over and stopped. He looked at me for a second before he went to put his hand on me. I slapped it away at the same time I had growled.

"Why are you being like this? What's wrong with you?" He asked me.

"I don't know. The pain hurts and my wolf wants out. He wants blood because I'm so pissed off."

"Look, stop. Take deep breaths. Listen to the sound of my voice, your mates voice."

I tried to do what he was saying but the pain was to bad. I started shaking so bad that I saw black then I felt heat. I felt like I was on fire. Then I heard Phil yell at me saying fire. But I couldn't move. Not even when I heard the truck doors opening and me being pulled out of it.

"Devin what's going on?" I can hear Phil asked me but I didn't answer him.

"Run my child. Shift and run." The woman voice has said in my head.

I did what she said to do. I shifted and started running. I didn't know where to run to but I had to get away from him. He was pissing me off and maybe he's the reason why this had happened.

I heard a grunt from my wolf like he was agreeing to what I had said. Which was weird of him. Usually he's all whiny for our mate but something's off.

As I was running, I looked down at my paws and I could see the flames around them. It looked cool as f**k. I looked behind me to see if I was burning anything behind me which I wasn't.

As I was running to wherever my wolf was taking me, I heard someone trying to reach to me through my mind link. All I know it could have been Phil and I didn't want to talk to him. But it could have been my parents or the alpha. I kinda didn't want to hear from them either, all I know is they were gonna yell at me for doing what I'm doing.

As I slowed to a stop, I was close to a cave that was nowhere near my pack lands and I had a bad feeling this was gonna be bad. As I walked closer to the cave, I had stepped in and saw the cave walls. There was drawing on them. Wolves, people, different shifters. It was pretty cool to see this. As my legs started to go numb, I laid down on the cave floors and rest.

But instead of resting, I had went off to one of my dream states.

I was appearing in a field with colorful flowers. A stream like the one we have back on our lands. Then saw a woman sitting on a rock with her legs crossed and her hands shaped into a meditation pose.

"My child, about time you show up." She had said.

"Where am I?" I asked.

"Your in one of my worlds, a dream state. This where only I can talk to you. And your family members that has passed away."

"Who are you?"

"I'm the moon goddess herself, I'm Mary. I usually don't come down to my children but I over heard you didn't want to talk to your family just yet. Why is that?" She asked me.

"I'm afraid to here,"

"Oh I know what you said, just why are you afraid. Don't you want to know what happened to your family, where you came from?"

"No, not just yet. I just want to know why you gave me these powers." I asked.

She snapped her eyes opened and they were blue. They were a pretty kind of blue. Like the ocean front.

"I didn't give you those powers. I gave them to your mother 18 years ago when she died."

"Wait what, she died before I was born?"

"Yes, my child. But I brought her back alive with the help of the phoenix." She said pointing up to the sky.

"So that's why I was on fire."

"Yes. Your coming into your powers fully. So you have to be careful on how you get mad, my child."

I nodded then asked about my mother.

"My mother, why did you give them to her in the first place."

"For the war that was coming but looks like she had failed it. That I was not expecting either. She was so involved with you being safe, she didn't fight like how she was trained and how I wanted her to use her powers."

"What do you mean?"

"You weren't, how can I say this? You wasn't supposed to even be born. The powers I gave her took that away but with the attack coming left and right, I thought she deserved another gift. You."

"So what does that mean for me." I asked her started to tear up a little.

"For you to start where she left off. For you to learn how to use and control your powers of the phoenix to heal yourself, the speed of a cheetah, and the strength of a gorilla. And one last thing before I let you go. You may never be able to get someone pregnant either." She said then snapped her fingers.

When I woke up, I was still in the cave. I hear it was raining and that it was already dark. Saw I got up on all fours again, I head out of the cave and ran home. As I felt the hammering in my head of everyone trying to get ahead of me, I opened it up.

Everyone was yelling at me like I thought. But it was more of a worried kind of yelling. I heard Phil, Bailey, my parents, and the alpha. But I didn't answered any one them, I just turned it off again and ran until I got to the border.

When in felt the pull of it, I followed it all the way to the closest patrol building until I felt weak and couldn't run anymore but I pushed myself until I saw some of the patrols walking around. When I was right there, I had shifted into my human form then passed out of the ground.

Phil's POV

When Devin took off in his wolf form in flames I was scared for him. I jumped back into the truck and drove as fast as I could home. Once I got home, I skidded to a stop almost hitting the house. When I got out of the truck, I ran inside the house yelling for everyone.

The alpha came running out of his office half asleep, already. He looked at me for a moment then delta James came running down the stairs.

"Where Devin?" He asked.

"I don't know." I said.

"What do you mean you don't know? Where is my son?" James said as he grabbed a hold of my shirt.

Then my parents came running down the stairs half asleep. My father came over to us and grabbed James hand from my shirt.

"Hands off my son." My father said.

"He lost my son, now where is he?" James growled.

"Enough James!" The alpha growled.

Everyone in the room lowered their heads at him. He walked over to me and put his hands on my shoulders.

"Where's Devin, Phillip?" He asked me.

"Again, I don't know. We got into a little fight then he started growling, then his eyes were glowing, then he caught on fire. I pulled him out of my truck to see if he was okay. Then he shifted, still on fire and ran. I don't even know where my best friend went." I said as I started to cry.

"What was you guys fighting about?" My father asked.

"Us," I said.

"What about y'all?" James asked.

"I can't. I promised I wouldn't until ready." I said.

"God damnit Phillip, tell me now." The alpha ordered in his alpha tone.

"Please don't make me, he'll be mad I told without him." I said as I started to cry.

"So help me Phillip," James said growling.

"Your mates ain't you." My mother said.

Everyone looked at her, even myself. I started crying harder then fell to the ground. My mother came to me and sat on the floor and held me in her arms.

"Y'all are mates? For how long?" James asked me.

"Since he was 13." I said.

"And y'all didn't tell us because why?" My father asked.

"Phil, don't." My mother said.

"Michelle, don't tell me don't. He's my son and if Devin is his mate, we should have known."

The alpha bent down to my level and looked me in the eyes. He grabbed my hand and rubbed it.

"They didn't want to be called out for being gay. Y'all thought the pack would turned on y'all, did y'all?" He asked me.

I nodded my head and cried some more feeling guilty.

The alpha sighed. "Future beta or not, we don't turn down our pack because of who they liked. Gay, lesbian, or whatever. Y'all are in our pack and we stand as one. Now let's go find that mate of yours." He told me as he stood back up.

He walked away towards the back door to talk to some of the guards, to head out a search party for Devin. As he done that, I headed over to Bailey's to have her help me look for him. I tried mind linking him but couldn't get through. Bailey said she tried as well.

After a few hours, it was dark and it started to rain. I was scared for him, I was scared that a rogue had gotten him. I was so scared that I shifted and howled into the sky to reach for my mate. A mate that I loved so much, that my heart was broken because I hide us for so long. My wolf was hurt and pissed off at the same time. He was pissed off at me and hurt that our mate was missing.

As I was in the rain, soaked, I saw the alpha running out of the house and shifting and running towards the east side of the border. What if Devin is there. I took off after him and followed behind until we got there. I saw patrol surrounding Devin as he was passed out on the ground soaked. I ran to him and started nudging him with my nose. I whined in his ear for him to wake up. But nothing was working.

I shifted to my human form and picked up Devin's body with everything I had and carried him to the house. It took awhile to get there but once we did, James and Jamie was outside holding onto each other. Jamie gave away a gasp when she saw Devin in my arms passed out. She went to touch him as we passed but I growled at them. James held her back until we got into the house. I took him up to his room and laid him on the floor. Jamie came in with a few blankets and handed them to me and walked back out of the room, shutting the door. Guessing the alpha told them to leave us alone for the night or until Devin woke back up.

That's if he woke up anytime soon.
