The pain subsides and I finally open my eyes to look at Dray again. "What do you mean by 'The Truth'?" I ask him, emphasizing on those words.
He opens and closes his mouth just the way I did a few hours ago, unable to form words. When he finally decides on what to say, he is interrupted by a loud knock on the front door. He sprints across the room in the blink of an eye and is out of the door in another blink. I stare at the door until it is opened again by dad who rushes over when he sees that I'm awake.
"Cam..." He breathes. "Thank goodness." My stepmom and Dray walk over to his side with grim faces. I look back at dad.
"What's wrong? Why isn't anyone telling me anything?!" I yell, on the verge of tears. Their facial expressions is all I need to know something is wrong. He looks back at Dray and mom before settling his eyes back on me.
"Where should I start?" He mumbles to himself.
"Anywhere!" I sigh, now frustrated.
".... Um..... First of all, you're no longer.... Um... Normal......" He trails off.
"Huh?"
"You're a supernatural creature. A werewolf to be exact." Dray breaks the ice.
"Ha. Yeah, I'm sure you and mom are too." I stop and turn to Dray. "And if he's here too, then hes probably one too, right? Or no! He's a vampire who proved his loyalty to werewolves." I exclaim and start laughing. None of them join in so my laughter dies down and turn to a smile. They're not joking.
"Wait, you're serious?" I look among them. They're all looking at their feet as though they have made a new facinating discovery about it.
I sit up properly and stare at dad. "Prove it!" I absolutely refuse to believe what they're saying.
Dad gets up and pulls off his shirt, leaving his cargo pants on as his back hunches and something snaps. His nose and mouth stretch outwards as his fingers become shorter and hair sprouts out from every exposed crevice of his body.
A large brown wolf drops on the floor in place of dad. I let out a very manly scream and scoot over to the headboard of my bed.
The wolf struts over and sits by mom and she pets it on the head with a smile on her lips. It turns back to me and wags its tail.
I can't take any more of this pressure. I can't believe my ears. I can't be a werewolf. Dray can't be a werewolf.
My eyes roll back into my skull and all I see is black.
************
I'm surrounded by that same warm, fuzzy darkness from before. When I begin falling, I see that same white light below me. I don't fight it this time, I just fall.
Like before, I land in snow, but unlike last time, I feel the cold snow biting at my skin. I jump out of the snow and look through the trees, checking if that white wolf is waiting for me again. It runs away as soon as I spot it and I begin sprinting after it.
My sprint reduces to a walk as I recall yesterday's events in this dream world. I see the cliff I ran off ahead and jog up to it.
When I come to a stop just before the edge, I hear a low growl behind me. I spinn around to see the white wolf growling at me with a visious look in it's multi-coloured eyes. It's left eye which has the gash of black fur over it is blue and the right eye is red.
It pounces on me with such force that it pushes me on my back and has me sliding towards the edge of the cliff. I come to a stop with my head dangling over the edge of the cliff while I try to prevent the wolf from biting into my neck.
It suddenly gets heavier and I look up, watching in horror as the wolf beast doubles in size.
The weight of its paw squeezes the air out of my lungs and it uses my weakened state as an oppotunity to attack me.
Blood spills out onto the snow, tainting its once pure white colour into a crimson red colour, spreading farther as more blood gushes out.
I feel the pain surge through my right arm which I moved to protect me just in time and scream. The wolf pulls back, baring its blood stained teeth at me. It stands up properly, towering above me as I hear bones snapping. The fur on it's body snakes back in as it stands upright on two legs.
The sight before me is suprising, intruiging, mindblowing, but horrifying all the same.
The wolf turned into ME!
I try to get up but it places its foot on my chest and presses me back down. It crouches down and draws back its upper lips, revealing sharp, shiny fangs. It raises my arm up, sending intense pain through my body and sinks its fangs into it.
My mind screams to fight back but my body won't listen. My eyes close in exhaustion as I feel the life being drained out of my body. I struggle to keep my eyes open but everything works against me. The universe really hates me.
Just before I pass out, I see him pull back and look at me again. He smiles and brings his hand to his mouth, biting into it and letting it bleed before bringing it to my parted lips and allowing the blood to slide down my throat. He chuckles and I begin to loose the battle to keep my eyes open.
"You'll be the best of them all."
**********
This time when I wake up, there is a cold cloth pressed to my forehead. I pull it off and sit up in bed. I'm dressed in nothing but my underwear. I swing my legs over the edge of the bed and flinch when they come in contact with the cold ground.
I walk over to my door and peek through the small opening, making sure that no one is around the room. I'm not ready to face my supernatural family and lover yet. I tip-toe down the stairs as quietly as I can, occassionally stopping to listen for any sounds.
When I get to the bottom of the stairs, I can barely make out voices that are coming from the living room. I turn around to run back up the stairs but bump into Dray. How did he get there?
I scowl at him and try to run around him but he blocks my path again before holding my hand and dragging me to the living room.
Mom and dad are involved in a deep conversation. So deep that they don't even notice Dray and I sitting on the sofa opposite them until Dray clears his throat. Dad's head snaps up to me and I glare daggers, swords and axes at Dray's head. He just chuckles before abruptly stopping and gasping. Dad turns me to face him and gasps too.
"Your eyes." He says.
I stand up from the sofa and run up to my room to look in the mirror. My eyes. They're different. From a dashing brown to a sparkling blue and a dazzling red. My left eye is blue and my right eye is red.
I crumble to the floor, tears escaping my eyes. What's happening to me? Am I a freak? Yes. Yes, I am. No one has eyes that just change colour. Not like this. Even those who have it are either born with it or have eye disease. Their eyes don't just suddenly change.
Warm arms wrap around my slender form in an attempt to comfort me and all I smell is Dray. I cry into his chest as he runs his hand through my hair, keeping one firmly around my waist to hold me against him.
When I'm done crying, I hug Dray back and carry on with sniffling. He doesn't stop caressing me for a moment, occassionally whispering soothing words to me. It makes me feel like crying all over again. I couldn't have asked for anyone better at my side.
After what seems like forever, I raise my head and look up at Dray. He smiles and I sigh sadly.
"I'm a freak aren't I?" I say and he immediately shakes his head.
"If anyone's a freak, it's me." He interjects.
"How?" I ask him while hiding my face between his comfortable pecs that I've become fond of these days.
"I'm a demon spawn not a werewolf." I look up at him and frown. "I'm a vampire, honey. We're like mini-demons, not the main thing so witches call us demon spawns.' He explains further.
I chuckle quietly at the pet name 'honey'. "Are you trying to say that there are actual demons? And aren't we supposed to be sworn enemies or something?"
"Yes. Demons have currently disappeared but they are definitly real." He sighs. " And we are supposed to be enemies but some vampires have defected to the werewolf side because it's obvious we aren't gonna win the war."
"I see..... Do you drink blood?" I ask randomly.
"Yeah, but just once a month."
"When last did you drink?"
"Last two weeks."
"Where?" I continue with my frienzy of questions.
"My family has a personal blood bank."
"Oh...."
"Yeah......"
"So, um... I have a request."
"Yeah?" He raises an eyebrow.
"Drink from me."
