"It's a good thing you like the mean side of me," I told her. "Because I'm about to be a real a.sshole." Lydia only groaned in response. Her eyes started to flutter shut again. "No, no, no, no, no, no," I muttered. I grabbed Lydia's face between my hands. I pulled her up, and got in her face. The sickening sound of her bones cracking is almost unbearable. "Lydia, open your damn eyes." I gritted out. Lydia's eyes popped open. "Don't you dare fu.cking fall asleep. You know you're not supposed to," I said. "But... I'm... so tired..." She said weakly. "I know you are, but you gotta stay awake." I replied. "Just focus on me, okay?" Lydia's left leg snapped. She cried out as she squeezed her eyes shut. Tears spilled out of her eyes as her bones readjusted. Are all shifts this brutal?
