Chapter 12By morning, Leon was waiting for them at the mine, but as they kept walking, Milo decided it hardly seemed deserving of the name. A long, sandy tunnel led downwards. They each held a torch as no matter how hard he tried, Jonty couldn’t use his magic. “What’s the point of a magician if his f*****g magic is useless?” Leon snarled. “You should go back.” Milo’s anger finally bubbled over. “If you say one more thing about Jonty, you’ll regret it.” It wasn’t the first verbal attack and the brightness Jonty had at the start of their descent was almost gone. “You always protect him. I thought I was your boyfriend,” Leon snapped back. “You know, Leon, you’ve hardly behaved like a boyfriend in days. I don’t think you really are anymore, but here and now isn’t the time to talk about it.
