Chapter 21

1013 Words
Oh, what a life I live. Getting divorced, my body guard works for the Romanos, and now I don't know what's happening with my life. Getting up, I started my day the only way I could, on schedule. The only thing I have left is my routine. The one I had before all of this happened with Justin and David. I grabbed a cup of tea, while Mrs. Murray watched me closely. Drank that and then headed up to my office to get to work. I had plenty of projects to keep my busy, and I was going to look into starting my own company. It was a good investment. As I was finishing up my second project, my phone rang. It was my attourney. "Hello." "Hey Ashlyn, how are you?" I could tell she was trying to speed through the greeting. "What is it, Suzanne?" "I heard David was at your house last night?" "Sure was. Left without much of a fight, but he definitely broke a window to get in." "Lovely." "Anything else?" I was beginning to get irritated. She was interrupting my routine. I know she meant well, and yes, my anger was misplaced. I just needed to get back to normal. I was desperate for it at this point. "One other thing. Your inlaws reached out to me. They are worried sick and would like to speak with you." "Thank you. Oh, and Suzanne, you may not place so much trust in Justin. Oh wait, I mean Aiden." "Did he tell you?" She sounded reserved. "No, I found out the hard way. Suzanne, if that is the company you keep, keep it away from my life." "You should give Justin the chance to explain..." I cut her off, I wasn't in the mood for any more dramatics. "I'm good. Have a good day, Suzanne." Promptly hanging up the phone, I started dialing my mother in laws phone number. "Hello?" "Hey, it's me." "Oh my God, ashlyn, we have been worried sick. What happened?" "Long story short, your son has been dating another woman, had twins with her, and I just found out. Congratulations, you have two 6 year old grandsons." I could taste the bitterness of my words on my tongue. "What?" If it had been any other person, I would have called them a liar, but David's parents adore me. He never would have told them because they would have reprimanded him and told me. "I'm sorry you had to find out like this, but I'm done. I didn't sign up to be part of some cult that induges multiple partners." "I understand. I am so sorry, sweetie. This must be hard for you." "I'm going to be okay. I just need time." We said our goodbyes, and I refocused my attention on researching how to open an LLC. An hour later, I had everything figure out. It was only going to cost about $200 to get the LLC. Then, there was setting up my portfolio. I would continue working until I got my company up and running. As night neared, Mrs. Murray brought me dinner. She set the tray down quietly. It was obvious she wanted to say something but kept stopping herself. "You can just ask." I said loudly. "What?" She looked at me startled. " You look like you have a question. Just ask it." Internally, I smacked myself. She didn't know what had happened with Justin. Turning around, I offered her a seat and explained what had happened. She looked as surprised as I had felt. I could tell she was unsure. "I know this is a lot to take in, but I don't want him here if he is going to be running around with people like that." I finally finished. "I understand, I just miss his company." "I get it." I yawned. "You go get some sleep. It's late." She pointed at the window. Looking at it, it was indeed dark out "Why are you still here?" I had to ask. "I couldn't leave if I didn't know if u were okay." "Thank you. You have always been a good friend." She stood and gave me a hug. "I'm always here for you, Ashlyn." That helped my heart warm. I knew I could always count on Mrs. Murray. She's been my rock when I couldn't pick myself up. Leaving the room, she allowed me to go back to my work. I had a few finishing touches and was able to get everything done about an hour ago. Getting ready for bed, I did my normal routine. cuddling into bed, I laid there feeling the emptiness of the bed. Maybe I need to get a cat or something? I am a companion to keep my company while I walk through this pain. It took me a while to finally fall asleep. My dreams were full of chaos and uncertainty. Nothing made sense. David and Justin took turns caution havoc in my mind. I woke covered in sweat. My heart was racing, and my breathing was labored. What the hell was going on? I went downstairs and got a cold glass of water, I needed to reset. My mind was so weighted down by the events of the last few weeks that it was now leaking into my dreams. Staring at the wall for a few moments, I worked on calming down. Slowing my breathing and my heart. Looking at the time, I saw it was 4 in the morning. Well, this was a bit earlier than I am used to, but I could use a walk. Getting dressed, I headed out to the road. It was so calm and quiet out. It gave peace to my chaotic energy. Walking down the road, I felt as the ground crunched beneath my feet. Each step is taking me further down the road. The crickets were loud, and the blades of grass waved in the breeze. By the time I got back to my house, I'm the sun was up and Mrs. Murray had already arrived.
