Chapter 16

I worked for several days on my project. Deep in thought, ensuring everything was perfect before sending it off. After emailing it over for review, I headed down to grab a snack. Today I was going to go into the city. Mrs. Murray, Justin, and I were going to go to some of the shops. It's her birthday and I wanted to do something special for her. "Good morning." I greeted Justin. Things had simmered down between us. We were both behaving ourselves. I was thankful. David and I are still married, and it bothered me that I let Justin touch me that way. I felt guilty, but I was also envious of the things Justin can do. "Are we still taking her out today?" Justin asked. "Yes, have you told her?" I looked up from my cup of tea that was brewing. "No, you said not to." I smiled, "Good." Mrs. Murray came scurrying into the kitchen. She looked a bit frazzled. "I am so sorry, Ashlyn. My husband was demanding that I open my gifts before I left." "You're fine. In fact, you will not be doing any work today. Justin and I are taking you out." Her eyes met mine, and they lit up with excitement. "Where are we going?" "We are taking you into the city. There are several shops we would like to introduce you to, and then we are taking you to lunch." "Oh, you don't have to do that!" She exclaimed. "It's not up for negociation." Justin chimed in. Grabbing my bag, Justin took us out to my car. It gave us the room we needed for Mrs. Murray. Several hours later, we had made it through several shops and was sitting down in a lovely Italian eatery. We had a blast talking and enjoying each other's company. Mrs. Murray didn't normally eat out, so this was a real treat for her. After finishing, we made our way over to a few more stores. Mrs. Murray asked that we drive by my husband's office building. She had never seen it before and wanted to know what it looked like. Justin took us to the building. Stopping out front, she looked up and down the beautiful building. As we were sitting there, a woman came walking out with two beautiful boys. They had to be around 8 or 9. If I hazard a guess, they looked like they may be fraternal twins. As she was heading towards her car, several cars away from ours, she stopped to put the boys in. Seeing her with them made my heart sad. I didn't know if I was ever going to get that. Just as Justin was pulling away, David came running out. At first, he looked like he might be running towards us, but as I was going to roll down my window, Justin grabbed my arm, causing me to pause. I watched as David ran up to the woman and kissed her passionately. Followed by kissing the tops of each of the boys' heads. My eyes nearly bulged out of my head. I'm shocked. Taking another look, I saw that the boys looked like the perfect mix between the woman and David. "Get me out of here." I commanded Justin. Mrs. Murray was silent in the back. My blood boiled as I replayed the image in my head of the two of them. Rage coursed through my veins. My heart broke into so many pieces. He had been cheating on me for years! Had a whole family outside of us! Before I allowed myself to calm down, I told Justin to take me to our bank. He did so without objection. Going in, I took everything out of our account that was mind. David could have his money. I made good money and could live off it just fine. The next step was finding an attourney. As we drove back to the house, the car was silent. I was deep into what I was doing. Looking up different attorneys throughout the city. My biggest worry was that I needed someone who wouldn't roll over and play dead. I had to keep things quiet until I got everything in order. I just needed a few days. I had to figure out how the division of assets would happen. He had the apartment in the city. After pulling up to the house, Mrs. Murray exited the car. She gave me a hug through the window before leaving for home. I sat in silence and looked at everything. It was all a lie. I haven't reached the point of crying yet. Just anger. Justin put his hand on mine and looked at me. "I'm here if you need anything." "I need a lawyer." My words were cold. Rage dripping from my tongue. "I can help with that. Talk with Suzanne. She is off 110th Ave. She's a shark, but the best in the business." His thumb caressed my hand, but I pulled away and headed into the house. Rather than even attempting to find any sleep, I started to do my research. Justin left me alone to simmer in my anger. I hate David for what he has done. The one thing I wanted so badly was that he had gone and had kids with another woman! My rage was too much. Taking every photo of us and destroying it. Smashing them against walls, destroying the lies. Going through the house, breaking all of them. Justin came running when he heard the commotion. He didn't try to make me stop. Instead, he just stood by and watched. And first, it made me mad, but one of the frames sliced my hand open. Running over, he tore his shirt and wrapped my hand after getting a small sliver out. "You're going to be okay." He whispered. Looking into his eyes, I finally broke. The anger disapated quickly and was replaced by sorrow. Leaning into him, I cried. He held me without hesitation or reservation. Allowing me to soak his torn t-shirt. His fingers ran up and down my back. Soothing my soul. Taking me up to my room, he closed the door and locked it. We laid down, and I cuddled into his embrace. "I'm so sorry, Ashlyn. You're an amazing woman. You don't deserve this." I continued to cry until sleep took me away. Waking the next morning, my eyes were puffy, and my body was tired.
