CHAPTER 4
"That's nothing new, but don't make a habit of turning back." - those words hit too close to home. Khalan shivered.
Khalan sensed no sarcasm in Aliyah, but still, it made him speechless. Blatant truth could be painful. If she only knew how he suffered and regret turning his back on her, perhaps she wouldn't hate him that much.
But he decided to deal with it later... First things first, he'd come up with a plan to get her back into his life. He needed her back in his life for good.
Khalan sensed that she would try again to avoid him and his confrontation. He held her elbow firmly to stop her attempt to go back inside the cabin. His strong arms held her in place by the railings. He was well aware that if he let this chance slip away, it would be hard to get another opportunity in the future. She'd do everything and anything to avoid him.
"We should see each other again, Aliyah," Khalan told her straightforwardly, almost like an order.
She gave a humorless laugh and queried, “What? Wait a minute...we're so done, right?" She raised her eyebrow.
She was surprised Khalan could tell, but her tone was still even as she spoke as if what they're discussing was nothing to her. He shook his head repeatedly.
"No, we are not done yet! I still like you, Aliyah!" He professed by her ear, almost like a whisper.
Aliyah remained unaffected despite the sensual provocation of Khalan.
"Hah!" she gave a half-laugh and released a deep breath. She shook her head.
"It should be a two-way street, Sir. Besides, I have a steady date." Aliyah's tone could rival ice.
"Of course, her date was platonic, but Khalan need not know that," she thought to herself.
"I don't care," Khalan retorted firmly.
But in his mind all he could think was--
"Of course, it mattered. I saw you once with that guy. I almost showed myself in front of you and punched him in the face."
Aliyah shook her head repeatedly while he uttered "I don't care," with obvious indifference.
"Please spare me. I am too busy to mingle."
Khalan saw her indifference, and his expression narrowed, then he countered...
"Now, listen to me; this is my proposition," He still held her elbow tightly to keep her in place.
Aliyah looked him straight in the eye, "Alright! Spit it out," she encouraged calmly, not minding his firm grip on her elbow.
"Give me a month, live with me again, Aliyah," he looked at her keenly, observing her reaction even more.
In Aliyah's thoughts: "I give you credit for hanging this long. My coldness usually was enough to stop the men I dated from progressing further. This kind of conversation will piss off most men and they walk away cursing... But why not you?.. Why are you so persistent, Mr. Weston?”
Aliyah disclosed instead after heaving a deep sigh, "If you want a bed partner, I am not the one you should approach. I hardly have time for myself. I can no longer serve someone during the night," She praised herself in her thoughts. She was indeed very pleased. What Khalan wanted was just too ridiculous, but she just needed to endure his persistence. His boring persistence.
"What we had was special, Aliyah. Let me prove it to you. Live with me again," Khalan bargained in a forceful manner. His mind was running wild, but there was no way he would allow Aliyah to escape him.
Exasperated, but she contained her growing irritation and annoyance and declared...
"There you go. What we 'had.' You can't just appear and demand me to go back to our past, Boss. Besides, you let it go. You- let –me- go!" Despite her effort to contain her annoyance, a slight trace of it was evident in her voice when she spoke.
That slight reaction did not escape Khalan, and he vowed firmly...
"I am getting you back!"
Khalan was ready to hear the worst from her. She was hard-hitting, but there was no way he'd allow her to dismiss him.
Aliyah heaved a deep sigh.
When Aliyah was about to give him another comment, words were stuck in her throat. Khalan shifted and pinned her by the railings. His hands... on each side of her, encasing her body as he gripped the rail firmly. She was rendered speechless.
The railings and his body sandwiched Aliyah’s body. He felt the warmth of her body against his and could smell her familiar scent.
Aliyah never expected him to pin her by the railings. In shock at his boldness, she looked for a way to escape. But Khalan was too strong. His muscled chest was very close to her. Aliyah’s efforts to free herself from the confinement of his arms merely got her closer to his body. He moved closer and closer to her.
Then,... Khalan eyes leveled on hers...
In his thoughts...The woman in front of him...she stayed in his mind the moment he saw her...her smile captivated his heart...her laughter brought him happiness...her tears broke his heart.
After so many years, they were staring again at each other.
Like it used to...as if an invisible force pulled them together. The intensity of the force was too great...it was indescribable. Neither of them could resist that force...it bound and pulled them together. Closer and closer to each other.
Aliyah's defenses collapsed when she saw Khalan's deep dark eyes. The same bottomless pit that made her heart melt too many times in the past, and it was happening again. Aliyah couldn't pull her eyes away from him. It was like a black hole.. a magnetic force. It was pulling her deeper and deeper into an abyss. And closer and closer to him until their faces were a proximate breath away.
Slowly, Khalan's hands touched her face that extended to her nape. The sensation brought by his touch was electrifying, rattling her defenses and causing her body to shake. Slowly, his lips touched hers. Their lips moving in perfect sync confining them into their magnetic black hole even more...then, rationale, motivation, and wisdom were insignificant.
Khalan's familiar scent enveloped Aliyah's senses. It was like a key that unlocked an awareness that she buried for a long time, and eventually, she closed her eyes and surrendered to him.
For a few seconds, the heavenly sensation brought by the kiss was enough to make up for the long agonizing time that they were not together...
Khalan savored the sweetness of her lips passionately, and Aliyah was lost.
In Khalan's mind...
"I have been longing for this from the moment I saw you. Please remember us, Aliyah."
In Aliyah's mind,...
"Why can't I resist him?.. I am beyond this worthless bond...I need to wake up and run away from him!"
However, despite their different emotions at the moment, the fact remains that the attraction between them was too powerful for either of them to resist.
They were engrossed in each other, locked in each other's arms for a long time.
After a while...
Khalan gently pulled his lips away from Aliyah, and then he saw her breathless...
He wanted to tell her...
"You want me too. Your closed eyes and trembling body say it all. You won't admit your attraction to me yet, but I am willing to wait for you. You defeat me with words, but I'm a man; there's another way to get to your senses. I had to do this to prove to you I am right. And I am..."
But instead, he was setting her up in his trap...
Khalan proposed, "You see, Aliyah, your lips and body expressed everything that you won't dare accept. Live with me for a month, and if I can't make you fall in love with me again, I will let you go!"
