Chapter 30(1): Just be there for you

"Oh thank God the rain has stopped." Piper mumbled more to herself rather than to her companion. She's looking outside the window of Maddison's car. They have been sitting there since the rain poured. Her at the passenger seat and Maddison at the driver's seat.

Maddison is quite a bit calm now. Sitting there with her arms crossed but she had a far away look. And Piper suddenly wanted to hit Skye's head for worrying her sister this much.

"She'll be okay. I can sense it." She said softly. She gave Maddison a small smile when the latter look at her direction with a bothered face. The younger girl really did mean it. She didn't say it just to ease Maddison's worry. She really had a feeling that her friend was okay. That's what's special about her. Her gut feeling is mostly true.

"I hope your right. " Maddison replied with small frown on her face. "I love that stubborn head very much. If only I could tie her to my body just so she wouldn't go away and disappear again, I would." She added and Piper laugh at what she said.

"Skye is so lucky to have you. I wish I had a sister like you too." Piper commented with a sad smile after. Although she grew up with her friends besides her that she treated like siblings, she was still longing for one. She's not complaining though but she wanted to have someone that could understand her and be there for her no matter what. And most especially, she wanted like her. A human.

Piper was an orphan when she was just a baby. Markus and Ella, a members of Harold's pack and a lovely couple who didn't blessed a child , accidentally found her one day outside the town's church. They felt attached to her quickly and then they decided to adopt her after.

Being a human who grew up in a neighborhood that's full of werewolves wasn't easy. She can't relate about the struggles of her friends when they started to shift. She didn't have special abilities like them. Although she's the sunshine on their group, she can't still deny that she sometimes felt left out. But then, she grew up as a good kid and a carefree person because of the love of her parents that they have been giving her.

When Maddison came to Levi's life and declared to the pack that she was his human mate, Piper was happy. She wasn't the first human mate in the pack but Piper adored her immediately as soon as she met her. She's so kind to her and to everyone else too. Her happiness added more when she knew that Maddison had a sister who's age is close to hers. She was so excited to meet her and she wanted to be her friend. Especially when she saw how happy Maddison is when she talks about her sister.

But that excitement was down a little less when she knew that Skye had no idea about the werewolf kind. And she get saddened when she have heard about the news that Skye have accidentally encountered a werewolf, which became a reason for her to leave the town and take Maddison with her.

That's what made Piper took the initiative to meet Maddison's sister and talk to her. She volunteered to deliver Martha's apple pie to their house and tried to convince her to stay. She's never a kind of person to interfere in the lives of others but she doesn't want Maddison, who treat her close to a sister, leave the town. And Levi's happiness is one of her reasons too. So imagine her joy when Skye chose to stay. And then she became their friend after.

"I can be your sister if you want." Maddison softly said which made Piper's line of thoughts to be stopped. The latter turned her head in a rush and look at her direction and stared at her with some hope evident on her eyes.

"Really?" She asked, looking innocent as she waited for Maddison's reply. She adore the woman very much and she highly respected her. Her positive reply would mean so much to her.

"Yeah." Maddison said. Although she still look worried about Skye whereabouts, she still managed to gave the younger girl a smile. Which Piper gave her a bright smile in return.

"T-thanks." She replied before averting her eyes and bowing her head a little. Hiding her shyness from her companion. But a smile was still etched on her face as she do so. Finally, she had a sister now.

The sun finally peeked through the bunch of clouds at the sky after the rain had stopped for about ten minutes now. Violet think it was already three in the afternoon. If they will leave now, they will get home before the darkness sets in. But the Alpha seems like she doesn't have an intention to go or even move her body. She just continued to sit still and listen to her mate's calm breath.

Skye was surprisingly had fallen asleep despite of her body shivering from the cold earlier. Her tight grip on Violet loosened but her head was still on her neck. Her breath was fanning over Violet's skin which made the brunette's body turned even more warmer. It's like her body is producing heat. She wouldn't be surprised if Skye stop shivering.

Violet let herself to enjoy the moment before it ends. She had smelled her mate's scent for a several times now but she never gets tired of smelling it. She didn't even mind her body that is starting to get numb from not moving for almost an hour now.

She suddenly felt an urge to close her eyes. But it only took a couple of seconds before she open them again abruptly when she heard a noise. It was a snap of a branch from approximately It looks like something or someone was walking nearby.

Her protective side suddenly got alerted. She didn't know who was it or what it was. It might be some stranger or wild animals, or worst, a rogue ones. But she dont care, she' s not even afraid. She just wanted Skye to be safe. That's all she care about.

Violet's forehead scrunched when the noise came closer to their spot. It looks like it's in a hurry. But she was so ready to beat the s**t out of whatever it is if it will harm them, especially if it will harm Skye.

The alpha turned her head on the open and she waited patiently for it to show itself. It only took a minute before the noise finally came near them. Then suddenly, a squirrel pass by the shed and stop for a while.

Violet took a deep breath. 'It's just a f*****g squirrel'. She said in her thoughts. Then she was about to close her eyes again when Skye finally stirred.
