Hi, my name is Aeko Ryan and I'm going to tell you a little something called my life. I grew up in a village raised by my aunt and uncle, but in a way I basically raised myself. Thing is they have never taken interest in me. They just make sure I'm alive everyday for the sake of them being able to live in my parents house. I lost my father when I was really young. He was sick and my aunt, his sister, decided it was time to cut the chord and on the 14th February he left me. After that, when my mom didn't get a cent from him, she left me and went to marry, I don't know who or what. Ever since then I've been a slave in my own father's house. I'm currently 18 and hopefully will be starting my first year at varsity next year.

Chapter 1

The alarm goes off and it's a sign for me to get up and make breakfast for everyone before aunt wakes up. If she sees me still sleeping, I know she will whip me again. It's 4 o'clock in the morning and I'm still not sleepy. I was up the whole night and I still can't sleep. I think it might be related to the nightmares I've been having lately. Either way, something is making me stay awake but I just don't know what it is yet. I get off and make my bed. After that I head to the bathroom and take a cold shower - if I boil water it will take too long to get ready and aunt will be mad. I dry up, lotion and get dressed in the dress I had washed two nights ago. I head out to the kitchen and eggs started on my boiled gets, bacon, sausages, toast and chili {my uncle likes his food with a little spice} .

Aunt: I see you finally decided to be useful in this house.

Me: Good morning Aunt.

Aunt: Nx, where's my food you bastard child!

I don't take her comments to heart anymore. I've learned to just brush her off. 

Me: It's almost ready Aunt.

Aunt: Did you clean the house?!

Me: No aunt, not yet.

She gives me a hot slap around my face which starts to sting my cheek. I look down so that she doesn't think I'm disrespecting her by looking directly at her.

Aunt: What burden of a child did my brother leave me with. I should have thrown you out when your mother left!!

She's now pacing around the kitchen shaking her head. Talk about being dramatic.

Uncle: C'mon Dora, take it easy.

Aunt: take it easy? This child is breathing under my roof!!!k now what that means?.....that means i'm paying for her clothes!, food!, books!, lotions!, water!, and!!! school fees!!!

so don't tell me to c'mon 

Uncle just kept quiet and continued eating his breakfast while aunt continue's to mumble. he's the only one who still tries to treat me like i'm human in here, its funny how blood just turns to nothing when you need it the most.

i went up the kitchen small stairs to the passage where the bedrooms lined up.....I knocked at Tyra's room and no one replied at first, i knocked again and waited...she finally came out looking like lady gaga just tuned it down a notch, wearing a tight black dress which showed how really skinny she is and silver hills and shady make up.

Tyra: what the f**k is your problem?

me:breakfast is ready. you look pretty..

Tyra: {bangs the door}

i go to Jessica's room which was already open and i just shout "breakfast is ready" and moved along..

i knocked at Jason and Jayden's room, Jayden opens the room and pushes me to the wall.

Jayden: get the hell away from here!

me: breakfast is ready please tell Jason too..

Jayden: i'm not your servant {he bangs the door shut!}

I turn around to meet uncle's smiling weird gaze...he comes closer and puts his hand on my shoulder and starts looking sorry.

him:you know kid. you a good kid. you ever need to talk or need anything, don't be scared to ask, i don't bite [he smiles at me and walks away and dissapears on the next corner].

I go downstairs and see them all sitting and eating and Jessica eating while on her phone as always...i got to the kitchen and clean up the mess i made while preparing and do the dishes.after i finished cleaning I sweep around till they finish eating and I stop cleaning and eat and go to fix their rooms...

*Nadia video calling*

Me: You know you didn't have to call right[smiling]

Nadia: Girl please, you know you happy i called, the smile says it all... [she laughs revealing her straight white beautiful teeth]

Me: I miss you so much

Nadia: I miss you more. How are you tho?

Me: im okay, just haven't been sleeping cause of these nightmaresi keep having

Nadia: again?

Me: Uh-huh. So what you've been doing?

Nadia: Just dreaming about your sexy brother Jayden

Me: First, he's not my brother and second, he's an asshole

Nadia: A very sexy asshole you may say.has he said anything about me?

Me: Yeah well I hope he choked on his food today. no thats disgusting, even if he did i wouldnt tell you...

Nadia: you so selfish [she laughs with me]his such a cutey

Me: lets stop talking about my brothers please 

Nadia: ok ok, what have you been up to, you not even online on anything these days?

me:busy schedule

nadia:well i hope you not working too hard you need to look hot and gorg when we go to varsity ...

i just sinked into my own thoughts while nadia was talking,i just couldnt stop thinking about varsity these last past few days ..and I still haven't told anyone about what goes on in this house. I just dont want the outside world to be looking at me as the victim of betraying her own family, and no one will standon my side my wholefamily is in this.. nadia:hello!!!.....earth to aeko!?

me: oh s**t sorry....

nadia: you ok?you seem so gone

me: im fine [throwing an obvious fake smile]

nadia:oo...kk..a..y.. thats probably your body calling for more weed

me:which you give me

nadia: and which you ask for

{we laugh together} 

me:honestly i need it.. and you shouldn't tell any of my family or family's friend im smoking weed..

nadia: dude i swear...

voice:unless i do

i turn around and meet jason's dumb face standing right at my bedroom door carrying a coffee mug...

nadia:friend i gotta go cause...cause....my mom needs me..bye

me:jason please dont tell aunt im begging you...please

Jason: I'll think of a deal to settle this but for now remain in presence of waiting....and you better make dinner

*The next day*

Nadia: Finally you arrive

Me: I'm sorry I got stuck at home. You know how my family is

Nadia: Come it's late and I'm tired. Let's go see our results

Me: I hope we did well

Nadia: I have faith in us girl

We walk into the petrol station store and get a newspaper. We start searching for our results and we find Nadia's first.

Me: gurl!!!you made it!!!

Nadia: Yes !!yes!!!im going to varsity!!!

Nadia: Holy shit

Me: What!!!![while smiling]

Nadia: I can't believe this

Me: I passed!!!!

Nadia: You passed!!!...we did it!!![she tossed the newspaper and started jumping and screaming]

Me: we did it [tears of joy start to flee my eyes]

Nadia: hell yeah!!we did

Me: I can't believe this!!!

Nadia: I have to go home and tell my mama,she's gonna be so happy!I'll see you ok?

Me: ok. have a great time congrats

Nadia: you too babe

I get home and the music is banging so loud. The lights are on in every room and there are people limping around the yard. At that moment I knew that Aunt and Uncle were gone. I walk inside and the stench that welcomed me almost made me vomit. There are people who I don't know dancing around the living room. Some are having a love session on our couch and I can't seem to find any of my cousins anywhere. I go upstairs and start looking through every room. I walk into my Aunts room only to find Tyra and Shay making out with some guys. I don't even think they saw me come in. Anyways I continue my search and I find Jayden talking to some skinny girl. I decide to ignore them and just look for Jason. I got to their room and he wasn't there so I just head to my room and decided to call Nadia. 

Nadia: Miss me already 

Me: My cousins are having a party downstairs and I'm stuck here 

Nadia: Is Jayden there? 

Me: Yeah he is why? 

she hang up....

me:hello???..

I decide to go take a shower before I sleep. I head towards the bathroom, Just before I open the door I hear the water running. I decide to get my emergency bat from under the bed and then open the door slowly. I bang the bat on the shower door and start shouting at the person. 

Me: What are you doing in my bathroom?! You have no right to be here!! Under who's authority are you to be in here?!! 

Jason: what the hell are you doing!!

{luckily he was still descent}

Me: Oh.....why you in my bathroom?

jason:my shower is broken.

me:okay... [i looked down and turned and walked away]
