Work was just another day the fear of what tonight held was more of a problem. However, she couldn’t stop looking at the massive ring on her finger. The photos for the society pages won’t be published until tomorrow. So not everyone knew their news. Of course, she had told Kate and Stacey, but she hadn’t really told anyone else because she didn’t really know anyone else! She wandered dreamily into the bathroom. While on the loo she heard to ladies enter the bathroom.

“I would just love to be her right now, imagine being wined and dined by Harrison.” It was Tammy one of the other secretaries.

“I personally don’t like her. She’ll get what’s coming when Harrison dumps her, you know what his like he won’t keep her for long.” Louise, a catty woman who has been jealous of Julia since she came to the firm, Louise had been dying to work for Paul. She actually thought that if she connected with Paul, it would increase her chances with Harrison. Highly unlikely, both Paul and Harrison find her slightly irritating and gossipy. Now I understood why.

“Maybe this time it might be long-term,” Tammy said.

“I doubt it, she is truly not his type. I’d give it another month before the novelty wears off.” Novelty! Ha! Julia wasn’t going to listen to another word.

She strolled out of the loo and walked to the basin where Tammy and Louise were applying makeup. Tammy’s face turned white, and Louise was shocked but hid her reaction.

“Hi Tammy, Louise. Oh just so you know Louise” she turned and faced her head on “this isn’t about to end in a month.”

“You don’t know Harrison the way we do, he is not into long-term relationships,” Louise said smugly.

“Hmm, maybe your right, I don’t know Harrison as well as you do. I guess I know him more intimately through, would you agree?” Julia knew she hit a cord Louise's face turned to stone.

“Well, I hope your well prepared for what the next couple of months will bring, that’s as long-term as Harrison gets.” The sarcasm was dripping as she spoke.

“You know, you could be right, I’m not really prepared.” She watched as Louise was looking like she won the battle. “but then I don’t know any woman who is prepared when the man of her dreams proposes to her in front of hundreds of people.” She flashed the ring at Lousie. “Hey, but thanks for the concern.” She said over her shoulder as she exited the bathroom. Louise’s face was priceless her mouth practically dropped to the bathroom floor. That’ll teach her for gossiping.
