"Please, don't hurt her," she pleaded. "I want you to spare her life for my sake." When she said this, he was about to hit me. He turned around and looked her in the eyes.
"Maria, are you hurt?" he asked while I groaned and moaned in pain.
"I'm not, Alex," she answered back. "She must be hurting a lot. You should go check on her."
"I don't give a damn about her," he yelled.
"You're wrong, Alex. She's your mate no matter what," she uttered. "You don't have to hurt her for my sake."
"What? Even if she is my mate, no one is as important as you," he declared. "She is only here to give birth to my child." I stood there, watching as he drew her into an embrace. "Our child. That is her sole reason for being here, not to disrespect you."
