“A smart-ass, huh? I can fix that,” Gisele said tightly. From within the armoire she withdrew a small purse. My purse. My breath caught. “Where...Where did you get that?” I said. “Does it matter? I have it now, and that’s all that counts. What’s in here? I wonder, I wonder.” She dumped the contents on the floor. Nail file, clippers, tampons, rubbers, and other junk spread out between us. Gisele rummaged through it. “Hmm. You know, we tell the trainees to leave everything behind, except their ID’s.
