I couldn’t tell how long we sat in that bench, but I was glad that I had finally calmed down. The tears had stopped eventually. Alexandra stayed with me, the entire time, holding me in her lap. Her coat draped over my shoulder to ward off the cold. Peace and comfort flooded through me as I lay my head on her chest.
There wasn’t any other place better than being in her warm hands in that instant. I broke down when I saw Alexandra, and now I felt the intense pain and sadness get eased off my chest.
