*** Aiden's first instinct was to protect his mother. He saw the blade flash before his eyes, and his animal instinct surged forward, his eyes trained on the man who was running at them. In a split second, he lunged directly at him, knocking him to the side and punching him square on the jaw. The man cried out as he slammed his head against the wall, and Aiden immediately twisted his hand so he dropped the knife. He punched him in the throat, and the light in the man's eyes faded instantly. Aiden was on his feet in a flash, and he charged at the other men as a sharp growl escaped from his throat. One of the men was lunging at his mother, and Aiden's heart stopped as he saw the man towering over her. No matter how fast he ran, he knew that he would never get to him in time. Terror grip
