Chapter 14 Class Demonstration

"Today is your first lesson. As you are attending my class, you must be elites. But remember, you guys are only the elites of Yuzhou City, not the elites of the Xia Kingdom, not the elites of the world. So none of you should feel proud. If you think you're already the best because you got admitted to this class and can relax, then let me tell you, you are gravely mistaken. Every year, you will undergo the annual test and the five with the lowest scores will be kicked out of this class." "Gosh!" Fan Xiao's words immediately caused the whole class to start discussing. "Oh no! I'm doomed! I'm going to be kicked out of this class if I'm in the last five." "Looks like I have to work hard." "Are you serious?! We can get kicked out?" Only a few remained calm as the majority discussed anxiously. "Silence!" Fan Xiao slammed the desk and shouted. The noisy classroom instantly quieted down, even the sound of a pin dropping could be heard. "Right now, there are twenty-five students in our class. After three years, fifteen will remain. These fifteen will be the best of Yuzhou City in that year." Hearing Fan Xiao's words, a fire started burning in the students' eyes, including Li Kong and Zhao Qingyun. Everyone encouraged themselves to work hard. Seeing the students' expressions, the corners of Fan Xiao's mouth slightly raised as the high risk and reward yielded him great results. "Now let's begin class." He announced to the class and turned to write the word 'release' on the blackboard. "All of you are Second Grade mages or above. But, most of you here are considered fake Second Grade mages. Does anyone know why?" Fan Xiao paused and asked. "If you want to become a genuine Second Grade mage, you must learn the corresponding magic skills. If you only rely on elemental control to reach Second Order or above, you will always be called a fake mage." Zhao Qingyun stood up and said proudly. He loved to see people looking at him with strong admiration. "Yes." Fan Xiao nodded and gestured for Zhao Qingyun to sit down. "Yes, like your classmate Zhao Qingyun said, you must learn and master magic skills to become a true Second Grade mage. Most of you have probably heard of it, but only a few have had the chance to come into contact with it." Fan Xiao took a pause and said, "But now, all of you have the chance to come into contact with it and learn it." Apart from Li Kong, Zhao Qingyun, and Liu Kexin, the other students' eyes sparkled with eagerness. Why else did they come to the magic school to study? Wasn't it obvious? To learn powerful magic skills. Zhou Kai secretly clenched his fists. Although he knew that he could learn from magic skills here, he still felt extremely excited when he heard Fan Xiao's words. "That's great! I can finally learn magic skills! I will become stronger and get revenge on those bullies from the past." Mo Xing thought to himself, his face flushed red with excitement. He had heard about Li Kong and was jealous that Li Kong could match the powers of Zhao Qingyun in the fight. He believed that Zhao Qingyun must have held back. And if he learned to use magic skills, his powers could be on par with Zhao Qingyun's. Mo Xing felt a surge of confidence climb up his mind. "Magic skill can make you stronger. Let me invite a student to demonstrate." Then, Fan Xiao looked at Zhao Qingyun and said slowly, "Come up and show them." Seeing that Fan Xiao had pointed to him, Zhao Qingyun stood up and gracefully walked to the podium. He said, "My name is Zhao Qingyun. I believe you all know me. Now let me show you my magic skill." As he finished speaking, Zhao Qingyun quickly raised his hand and shouted, "Water Wave s***h!" A wave of water suddenly shot out towards the dummy doll that Fan Xiao prepared. The dummy snapped in half with a loud cracking noise, fell to the ground, and shattered into several pieces. Seeing his masterpiece, Zhao Qingyun raised his chin slightly and revealed a confident smile. Then, he looked at Li Kong provocatively. He firmly believed that it was impossible for Li Kong to fight to a draw with him. If Fan Xiao had not blocked his attack yesterday, Li Kong would have definitely been seriously injured. Li Kong ignored Zhao Qingyun's provocation. His master had let him engage in real combats so he's seen countless magic skills before. It was undeniable that the people he had fought with were not as strong as Zhao Qingyun. This did not, however, mean that Li Kong was weaker than Zhao Qingyun. On the contrary, he believed that he was definitely stronger than Zhao Qingyun, hence he ignored Zhao Qingyun's provocation. "Yes, not bad. What Zhao Qingyun just released was a water magic skill. Different mages use different elements. Now, can another student come to demonstrate a skill another element?" "Li Kong, why don't you come up and show everybody a fire magic skill?" Fan Xiao pointed at Li Kong. "He knows magic skills, no wonder he drew the match with Zhao Qingyun." "Li Kong was also a level higher than Zhao Qingyun. But I think when they fought, Li Kong had held back." Hearing Li Kong's name, several students began to whisper. Zhao Qingyun was stunned. He didn't expect Fan Xiao to call up Li Kong. He felt sad as if his favorite toy was just given to someone else. "Fire Fist!" Raging flames immediately burned down the dummy that Zhao Qingyun had just chopped up to ashes, leaving a charred fist print on the ground. "Well, thank you for the wonderful demonstration. Now everyone else sitting here, you guys are also Second Grade mages but do you think you can beat them two in battle?" Fan Xiao looked at the surprised students in the class and asked. "This is the difference between someone who has mastered magic skills and someone who hasn't. Don't be discouraged though. I will now take you guys to choose your own magic skills now." This sentence was like a heavy bomb that exploded in everyone's hearts. "Remember, you must choose your magic skill according to the element that you weild." Fan Xiao said solemnly. "Yes," the whole class answered in unison. He nodded in satisfaction. "Now come with me to the library." The class followed Fan Xiao to the library. It was a traditional pavilion and looked out of place among the tall, modern buildings of the campus. It was also this out-of-place building that made the Yuzhou City Magic Secondary School the most heavily guarded place of the City. "Remember, you have an hour to choose. Keep in mind that you might not get what you chose. Each set of magic skills is protected by a magic light shield and you must break the shield with your own strength. Choose carefully. If you can't break any shield after the hour is up, you won't be able to obtain a set of magic skills." Hearing Fan Xiao's words, the excitement gradually died down. The students felt nervous and anxious, they were all elites and all wanted the best magic skills possible. "The darker the light shield, the harder it is to break." Fan Xiao added, "Alright, now you guys can go in. Keep in mind that you only have an hour. Once your time's up, someone will send you out. Also, Liu Kexin, come talk to me first." Hearing that they could go in, the students immediately rushed in, afraid to waste a single second. "Hmm?" Li Kong was a little curious as to why the instructor asked Liu Kexin to stay behind. Was he hiding something? "Come on, Li Kong, let's get going. Although you already know a magic skill, isn't it always better to learn more?" Zhou Kai patted Li Kong on the back and said. Zhou Kai was right, getting himself another skill is the most important thing at the moment. He shook his head and entered the Magic Pavilion with Zhou Kai. He was also curious to see what the inside of the most heavily guarded building of the Yuzhou City Magic Secondary School was like. "Master, is there something wrong?" Liu Kexin asked nervously. She was afraid that the instructor would make things difficult for her because of yesterday's incident. "You don't need to go in. Your body's compatible element is very special. The magic skills here don't fit you." Fan Tao explained. He could tell that the girl was worried but did not care. The news broke her heart. Her family had paid a great price to find her a suitable magical book, and there was no luck. The reason why she came to study at the Yuzhou City Magic Secondary School was because of the Magic Pavilion. She was hoping to find a suitable skill in this library. "Come with me. The principal is looking for you. He has what you want. So come with me." Hearing this, the resentment in Liu Kexin's heart died. Joy filled her heart. "Yes." She nodded heavily and quickly followed Fan Xiao's footsteps.
