Broken

What!? You shouldn't be here, what are you doing here, Raylee?" "I'm looking for Klaus." I answered, frantically searching the huge ultra-bright, white room. “Klaus?” The voice whispered. My head shot towards the voice in time to see mama G’s eyes widen in shock, which was subsequently replaced by sadness. "He-he's not here.” She solemnly paused, and I stopped my search, immediately giving her my undivided attention. “Then, where is he?” I wasn’t sure if I should be panicking right now or not. She averted her gaze. “...h-he never came." My eyes widened to a horrific size, my head shaking profusely, refusing to believe her. "Impossible, he's got to be here, somewhere... This is the afterlife, isn't it?" My voice cracked slightly, drenched in desperation to hear the affirmative. Instead, mama G hung her head, slowly shaking it before making the slightest eye contact. "I'm sorry." She whispered. My brows knitted, my angry lungs burning as oxygen filled them, fueling the flame, while uncontrollable tears welled up at the brim of my eyes. "Sorry!? So, if he’s not here, where is he!?" She took a deep breath. "If he's not here…. then he is with, the others." "And where are the others?" It was hard to keep my tone stable, a mixture of emotions flooded my soul in an overwhelming way. I wanted to scream into the emptiness of the room that seemed like an exact replica of my soul, but just when I thought my heart couldn’t break anymore, she replied…. "They are sent to the other side and it is believe that over there, they- they fade... into oblivion." Her voice was barely above a whisper, yet her words echoed in my head like the roaring thunder on a stormy night. Oblivion? Nothingness? It felt like her words knocked the air from my lungs. I was breathless and barely able to stand straight as the tears spilled over. "B-but you can't do that to him, he is the Keeper's guardian... that- that must count for something... Right?" "But he breached the laws of protection." "But it wasn’t his fault.” “No one can make you do what you don’t want to, Raylee.” I knew she was right, but I just couldn’t accept it… my heart won’t let me. I was an emotional wreck. “but...” I tried to justify, “he didn't do it for purpose, please spare him.” She wore a dejected look “The rules are the rules, Raylee.” I've never hated to hear my name so much. She was using it in such a soothing manner but my heart refused to be pacified. “Please, can’t you just make an exception… there’s always an exception to every rule.” "Sorry, there's nothing I can do, I have no say in the rules." There she goes again with the sorry, a word that only magnified my pain... I found no comfort in its embrace. My heart ached ten times greater, and soon my feet gave out beneath me as my knees fell to the ground. Was there really no other way? The tears could not be tamed, it can't end like this. With my face buried into my palms, I wailed. “But I am The Keeper.... don’t I get a happily ever after… don’t I deserve it?”
