The First Look
Skimming through the books, a red head found what she was looking for and grabbed it. "Ah, here it is. Now let's put you back in your home." She said quietly to herself. Selene had a bad habit of talking to her books.
Selene was an average girl. She stands at about 5 and a half feet, and if you ask her about her weight, she'd happily tell you to kick a stump. It wasn't like she was a big girl or anything, she was actually quite normal for her size it was just something she battled with when she was a child. She had long, wavy red hair that ended just above her bottom. She was pale, and her face was littered with freckles. The part of her that everyone complimented her on the most was her eyes. Her eyes couldn't only be described as crystal blue. They looked like a lake shimmering under a full moon. As for how Selene saw herself, she would just say she was herself and no one else was her.
It had been a little over 3 months since she moved to this little town off the west coast. It was still strange to her that she chose to drop out of her history studies to be a librarian. Something called her here away from the big city though, and it wasn't something she could just ignore. Her mother would be so disappointed in her decision, she always wanted what was best for Selene. What her mother would most be disappointed about is where she moved. She always told Selene that the coast was dangerous, that a city girl wouldn't make it in a small coastal town. It was actually quite odd at how much Selene fit in, almost as if she was ment to live out here.
Selene put the book onto her cart and continued to skim over the books. They library was not in very good shape to begin with, so when a huge group of kids ran through it, it needed a little more love and care. She had been trying her hardest to keep it organized, but the librarian who worked mornings didn't seem to care too much, so it was difficult to keep up.
"Hey Selene." A voice broke through her day dreaming. Selene looked up to see her coworker Matthew waving at her. "It's 9, you ready to leave?" He had tried to pursue her when she first moved to town, but Selene just didn't feel right dating a coworker. He stopped after a while, but still tried to get her to go out once in a blue moon. "Did you want to grab dinner?"
Selene looked around her, the windows now dark. Time must have slipped right by her. "Oh, I didn't even notice. Uh no thanks Matthew, not tonight. You go ahead, ill lock up behond me." She saw him wave as he left. Now it was just her and her thoughts. A sigh left her lips as she pushed the cart to put up the last few books, no longer worried about reorganizing, that's something she could do tomorrow.
As Selene locked up, the full moon gave her all the light she needed. She looked up at the sky and smiled. Basking in the Moons glow, she took a moment to herself. The moon had always been comforting to her, she often felt invincible when it was full. Taking a deep breath in and then letting it out slowly, she decided it was time to get home. She already knew she wasn't going to get any sleep, she never did on full Moons, but being out at night in a town she was still new to didn't sit well with her. She didn't exactly feel unsafe, but she didn't feel as invincible as she normally felt either.

Brownish amber eyes examined the ring carefully. The diamond glittered in the bright lights on the shop. "This is it. This is the one for Mira." A deep and gruff voice coming from the man. He brushed his hands through his shaggy black hair and smirked. He was finally going to ask his girl to marry him. "Damn, I can't believe I'm gonna do it." He said to his friends. The jeweler behind the dest took the ring and put it into a box, she walked off after saying she was going to gift wrap it.
"Dude, she is gonna flip. Theo you really couldn't ask for a better mate." A man similar looking to the other said while patting his friends back. "Our alpha will soon have his luna!"
Theo smiled. He was the alpha of the Blood Moon pack, Theodulf Ichor. He had only just taken over about three months ago after his father got severally ill and died. He was ready to ask his long term girlfriend to be his chosen mate.
After paying, Theo and his friends left to head out. It was getting pretty late and they needed get back to the pack. The full moon made him pause in his tracks for moment, it was going to be a good night for a run.
As he rounded the corner of the building something in him jumped to life. His mind started racing and he for some reason could smell Gardinias and Oakmoss, it was floral and woodsy all at once. That's when he saw her. Those blue eyes called out to him and the sound of her heartbeat was soothing while also setting him on fire. He had to fight the urge to grab her and kiss her. He wanted to claim her as his own right there under the moonlight.
Anger set in as he examined her more. She didn't give off any indication that she was wolf herself. In fact, she seemed to act more human. Was he mated with a human? That couldn't be, he's was an alpha he should only be mated with a wolf. His blood boiled more as his shock turned into a glare. He gave her one last chance to show that she might be a wolf, but sadly, she failed.
He slowed his pace from his friends just enough that they wouldn't notice or hear him. He then looked those blue eyes dead on as she passed him and whispered, "I Theodulf reject you as my mate." He then broke eye contact and resumed his pace as if nothing had happened.
