Maya’s P. O. V
As soon as the realization hit me, I tried to get out of the bed in a hurry and ended up tripping down on the floor as I got myself stuck in the blanket miserably.
Once again my breaths started to pick up the pace as if I was about to see a ghost.
Yes, it was something like that indeed.
Even though the room was fully air-conditioned, the tiny beads of sweats started to appear on my forehead as I could not help but panic, finding that something beyond impossible was happening to me right at this moment.
Cause, Maria, who has always been my nanny and my personal maid since my childhood, died in her early sixties, only two years after my marriage with Xavier. At least that was what I knew as I have witnessed her funeral with my own eyes back then, but little did I know that whatever I have witnessed or believed up until now was going to crumble down in no time as if it all was nothing but my mere imaginations.
Now, I really do not know what to believe and what to not.
I just could not figure out if this is a dream or I was dreaming earlier, cause both seemed so very real to my eyes that I could not even ignore any of that.
“Miss, are you alright? I just heard a noise.” Maria’s voice came once again from behind the closed door as she might have heard the sound when I fell on the floor.
But the thing is †hat I could not decide if I should go and open the door for her to find out the truth or I should stay wherever I am right now and keep my eyes closed, hoping that it would help me to wake up from my dream soon.
But even before I could make my mind, the door opened from the other side and came in the one whom I used to know since my very childhood.
Maria it was, but somehow she looked a bit different to my eyes which I just could not figure out yet, as I was in no such state to do so cause I still did not cease to panic even when she came rushing to my side right after she saw that I was lying on the floor with the blanket wrapped around the lower part of my body.
No, I could not move. The only thing I did at this moment was to watch Maria with my wide open eyes while I was still struggling with my breaths as if no matter how hard I tried, I could not get enough air.
“Oh my dear, look at you. You should have called me earlier.
Are you hurt anywhere, missy?” Maria asked with so much concern and helped me untangle the blanket so that I could get out of its trap.
The more she kept removing the blanket from my body, the more confused I started to become, cause slowly I started to feel that it was no dream but the very reality. As her voice, her gentle touch, and her very appearance indeed felt so very real to me that I realized that I was not at all dreaming at all.
If that is so, then how is this even possible?
“Miss?” Maria’s voice once again pulled me out of my trance as I realized that I was staring at her for a really long time now, without bothering to reply to her.
“Yes, I am fine.” That was what I said to make her a bit relieved just before she held my hand to help me get up from the floor in the very next moment.
“Is everything okay, my dear?” Maria asked while her already furrowed brows did not stay unnoticed to my eyes, declaring the fact that she might have found it a bit odd as I did not realize how unusually I kept looking at her from time to time.
It was true that I was traumatized and I did have a lot to ask her, but it was just that I could not get to do so, thinking that I might sound stupid to her, at least when she was not at all aware of what I am going through right at this moment.
On top of that, it would be best if I figure it all out first, before telling anyone, as I still do not know what happened to me.
Cause the last thing I remember was the horrible night and the arson which burned down my entire villa and I died along with it too. No, actually not just me, maybe another one…he, who came to save me. But then I woke up in my bed, being absolutely unharmed which did confuse me to the very extent that I could not even understand what is true and what is not.
“Yes, everything is fine.” I could not say anything else except that, for now.
Seeing that, Maria was still a bit worried, I forced a smile on my face to make her free of doubts which did work for her actually.
“Well then, do you want me to bring your breakfast to your room, missy?” Maria asked enthusiastically just as she used to behave always. Yes, that was how she was in my memories.
“No, I will go down. Is everyone already waiting for me in the dining hall?” I asked out of habit as this was the life I used to lead once.
“Yes, Mr Walton is already there. He will be travelling overseas today, so he is in a bit hurry. And as for little missy, she is getting ready for her school.” Maria informed me while she kept herself busy in doing my bed and getting my outfits out of the wardrobe just as she used to do for me.
I was still standing at my spot without bothering to move even for a little bit as I was observing Maria’s each and every single move with all the wonder in my eyes.
Yes, it was still hard for me to believe.
“You should hurry miss, or else you might be late for your class.” After she was done re-organizing my room, Maria reminded me once again and went out of the door in the next moment, leaving me behind to get even more confused due to what she just mentioned.
What class she was talking about?
Why do I need to attain any class when I am already…..
Within a flash of a second, another realization hit me, causing me to feel the chill down my spine in no time and I ended up saying to myself,
“No way. You got to be kidding me.” My eyes got even wider as if it was even possible, but I just could not afford to keep standing at my place and rushed only to stand before the full view mirror of my luxury bathroom now.
At this moment even I can not believe my own eyes, cause I found myself much younger than what I happened to be. As if I have returned to my twenties once again.
What if this is true?
