(Zephyr POV) (12 hours ago)
"This is a disaster! We need another plan!" My subordinate shouted as he put a cloth over the injured guy's hands.
I cursed, looking around. I could hear the muffled laughs from those goddamn bastards.
"f*****g goblins" I cursed before trying to concentrate on any one of them. "Give me your bow and arrow" I growled, taking the weapon from my teammate before aiming to the left.
The goblin that was in my aim, dodged before letting out a fit of laughter.
"The all great rescuing organization and the best team in it. Pfft. You all make me laugh" they laughed at us as I grunted angrily.
"Moonslayer, we won't be able to defeat them! We need to retreat!"
I glared at the woman who said that.
"No!" never in the history of my mission did I turn away from halfway. It's either win or death for me.
I pulled out my two swords before lunging at the goblin in my sight. The disgusting thing was fast, but I was faster. I dodged his poisoned nails before jumping up in the sky. "Die!" I shouted before slicing his head. I didn't waste time celebrating his death as I moved to the next one.
Those frightening things started to run away and Iran after them.
"Those who want to follow me, you can come" I commanded, before running after them. I didn't look at how many of my teammates followed, but I was happy they still had the faith in joining me.
But what I didn't expect was to stop midway and witness something shocking.
"What the hell!" Violet, one of my teammates shouted, as I took a step back. I have heard of flying pigs, but flying carriages?
"It's going to crash!" another shouted.
"Let's go!" I changed my direction to the path of the carriage. I usually wouldn’t care but.... but the symbol in the carriage.
Surely I must have been mistaken because there is no way it would be here, but I couldn’t help the uneasy feeling inside me.
As I ran after the crashing carriage I raised my right hand before chanting a spell. In a quick second, a magical circle surrounded the carriage before it was made to land safely on the ground.
I stopped behind the rough bushes along with my subordinates.
"Shouldn't we go and help them?" one of them asked, confused, but I raised my hands, silencing them.
I was too stunned to react. I stared at the symbol on the carriage, my heart racing faster and faster. I was not imagining things!
It was the same! 14 years since I saw that symbol. I never thought I would see it again.
"I... I am safe! I am alive! Yes! Thank you Lord!" a voice came before a tall ginger man got out from the front of the carriage, falling on his knees. He then stood up fast as if he remembered something very important.
"Your highness!!"
Your highness?
I felt as if the air got stuck in my lungs.
"Urgh," a voice rose to make me freeze. The sound was unfamiliar yet it had some type of familiarity. "I think I hit my head. What happened?"
The door to the carriage opened as a tall figure walked out.
The whole world around me seems to stop. A strong scent of honey which I missed filled my nose.
Andrews...
My mate. My childhood lover. The one person I thought I would never see.
He looked different from what I remembered. He was no longer a skinny boy, but a well-built man. There was a tattoo on his neck now, a picture of a compass along with some writing which I couldn’t understand. He had grown his hair and there were light highlights that covered his once black hair.
"I don't know, majesty, but someone played with the portal. But luckily we didn't crash. I am glad the magicians cast an emergency protection spell when we left."
He nodded his head and looked around cautiously. He knew it was not the emergency protection spell the guy talked about.
"First, we need to find where we are."
My eyes widened as he started taking off his winter jacket.
"Thank god. I was feeling hot just seeing him in those clothes", One of the ladies behind me commented.
He was dressed in warm clothes as if he came from some cold land.
"Damn, his biceps are fine" another commented, and I couldn’t help but let out a threatening growl.
I watched as he started to remove his royal dress. He then puts on a plain white shirt before looking around.
I couldn’t help but feel flustered and happy. It was like being in a dream.
"Turn" I whispered, hoping that I would be able to see his face.
I had heard about the coronation of the Eastern king. I was so happy about his success. I felt proud and excited for him.
I have heard praises of his successful rule. I have heard he was beyond handsome. He was adorable when he was a child, but what about now?
I wanted to see him for so long.
Maybe just a small glance, nothing more.
Did the lord feel pity for me and decide to give me a chance to see him again?
For the first time in a long time, I feel like thanking the almighty.
My ogling didn't last long as I saw a movement to the left side of my mate. My concentration solely went on that part of the forest.
In a quick second, my body reacted. I took out my sword and ran to my mate. I was just in time.
I called forth my shield, raising my sword. An arrow that was directed at him disintegrated into thin air. But what I didn't expect was the burst of the spark that followed behind.
A hand grabbed hold of my wrist and I felt like my whole world slowed down. I turned to look at him as he pulled me forwards. His beautiful forest green eyes met mine and they widened in shock.
His first response was to let go of me. I stumbled forward but balanced myself from falling. He stared at his hands in shock.
I took a step forward but he raised one hand to me.
"Who are you?"
Ahhh. It's sad. I never thought I would feel even more devastated. I knew his parents would make him forget me, but damn it, it hurts.
Involuntarily, I took a step toward him but just then I felt a sting on my shoulder. I groaned as the pain started to fill my body.
"Captain!!" my teammates shouted, running towards me.
Andrews moved forward and went to his knees in front of me.
"Your hit!" "Oh my god! The arrow contains poison!" "Cover general! We are still under attack". I could hear my teammates shouting around me.
Violet gripped the arrow firmly.
Without even giving me a single warning, she pulled the arrow from my body. I cried at the shock that ran through my body.
"Everyone! Position! We are still under attack!" someone from my group shouted.
Andrew stood up and swiftly moved to the front, taking out his weapon.
By now the pain in my body was becoming worse. Everything around me started getting blurry.
My eyes went to an unfamiliar broad back. He held a crooked sword that had the mark of Devine East kingdom. He didn't leave my sight as he fought off the enemies that were trying to kill me.
By now, I could feel my mind was completely shutting down but I tried my best to stay awake. I needed to see that face once again! I needed to find out if I was hallucinating.
Even if there was the strong smell and the sparks, I only saw him for a second. I couldn’t help but feel it was just my imagination.
But why... Why is he here!?
I felt a cool soothing hand rest on my forehead.
"She is getting hotter! The poison seems to be spreading" a man's voice rang in my ear. My whole body shivered in delight.
"We need to take her back to the clove! Your majesty, please hand her over!"
Silence followed after, but I didn't feel myself being handed over. Instead, I felt the same hands lift me into his arms.
"It's alright. I will bring her. She got injured while saving me."
My team seemed to reject the idea, but the man was adamant.
"I am the king of the East and I suggest you follow my orders."
Another wave of silence followed on hearing the title. My heart felt like it jumped out of my chest.
Hearing him say that, I wanted to open my eyes! I wanted to see him once more! Just a small glance but I couldn’t. My body is not listening to me.
My will to open my eyes puts a strain on my body. The poison didn't seem to be helping as I groaned in pain.
"The poison is spreading fast! We need to move! Come on!!" The voices now sounded far away.
Ahh... I think I am going to lose it.
"An-drews", I muttered his name, before I lost myself to the darkness.
