« Robin » The drive to the beach house took about five hours, with very few stops. By the time we arrived, not only was I excited, but I was in awe of the beach house in front of me. I wasn’t sure what I had been expecting but as I got out of the car, my mouth hung open. I slowly walked up to the beach house that was located on the shoreline and I gazed up at the beauty of the home we would be staying in for the summer. “Wait up!” Jessica Ambers called out as she stumbled out the back of the car and I smiled at my best friend. Jason Smith was right behind her, and I was glad my father had agreed that they could join us. “Not so fast!” my father yelled out. “Let’s unpack the car first,” he added as he went to the back and popped the boot. Jess and Jason immediately stopped in their tracks and backstepped to assist while I groaned out in irritation. I wanted to see the house, but I didn’t want this vacation to start on the wrong foot, so I dragged myself to where my father was handing out our suitcases and groceries. We had stopped along the way to do some shopping and although I had been curious about where my father had gotten the money from to buy so many luxury items, I didn’t want to say or ask anything in front of my friends. I had to admit that from the outside this beach house looked rather posh and extravagant and I had to wonder about The Hillside Pack as I admired the smooth white exterior with the large square windows that I knew would allow the natural sunlight in. The second floor looked to be smaller than the first and as I peeked around the corner, I could see the balcony and I smiled. This was going to be fun. I glanced over my shoulder and looked out at the sea that seemed to go on for miles and miles before Jess nudged me with her shoulder to get me moving. I then followed behind her, up the short staircase that led to a large sundeck. My father had already unlocked the sliding doors and was headed inside with Jason. Jess was waiting for me, and we entered together. Both my father and Jason were almost stuck in the way as they looked around. Instead of saying something highly inappropriate, I looked around as well. The first thing that hit me was how white and clean everything looked. The décor is minimal but very suitable as the large windows give the perfect view of the outside. Jason finally snapped out of it and carried the armful of groceries to the large modern kitchen and set everything down on what looked to be a sandy-colored marble countertop. I keep looking around, trying to take in as much as possible. The open-plan kitchen, dining room, and sitting room don’t really do the large area much justice. The L-shaped couch is white with light blue strips and all the scatter cushions are white. The square coffee table looked to be the same sandy color as the kitchen countertops. I do notice the massive TV hanging against the wall as well as the sound system that is neatly organized just below it. “Holy…” Jason’s voice trailed off and I headed over to the kitchen to see him standing by the double door fridge as he peered inside. I looked over his shoulder, but it was empty and I was curious to know what he was awed about. “What is it?” I then asked him as I placed the grocery bags I had been carrying on the countertop behind me. “What is it? Look at the size of this thing!” he lightly slammed the door closed and I smiled at his remark as I thought about his house. I can understand his amazement as his single mom works almost twenty-four/seven just so that they can survive in their apartment. They do not have a double-door fridge and his awed reaction is adorable and amusing to me. I glanced around the kitchen, and I have to admit, I was rather impressed. The sleek design that fits in so well with the beach theme they have running throughout this large area. I then spotted the dishwasher and I breathed out in relief. I hated washing dishes. “Alright, let's get the next load,” my father called out, and I made a move to head out when Jason stopped me. “Thanks for inviting me,” he whispered as he pulled me against him. I smiled up at him as I wrapped my arms around his waist. “I thought my father was going to say no,” I admitted. “His only rule was that we practice safe s*x,” I loved watching him blush even though my father had said no such thing. In fact, my father had given me a speech about saving myself for my mate. I didn’t want to point out to my father that I was still a virgin and that I planned on staying like that until I did meet my mate. Jason and I had a weird relationship, we had been dating on and off throughout high school and the most we ever did was make out. I slowly eased away from him, and Jason chuckled as he took a step back. “Right,” he breathed out before I grabbed his hand and let him out of the kitchen. “Robin!” the sound of my father yelling out my name made me cringe as we exited the house, but as I spotted something over in the corner, I froze, which made Jason bump into me from behind. “What?” he asked, and I pointed over at the jacuzzi that was sitting in the corner of the sundeck. “Nice!” “Robin!” my father yelled out again and I groaned loudly as I dragged Jason along with me. It doesn’t take us too long to finish unpacking the car and we make ourselves comfortable in the sitting room on the couch. I knew what was going to happen as I looked up at my father, who was standing awkwardly behind the coffee table. “Alright, here are the rules,” my father started, and I rolled my eyes at him. “Rule one, do not break anything. I know accidents happen, but please try to be careful,” he looked at me first and I nodded in agreement. I wouldn’t want to know what it would cost to replace anything in this house. “Rule two, there is no maid service despite how clean this place is, so that means we have to clean up after ourselves. So, if you make a mess, clean it up. Rule three, I know that Robin invited you both here to have fun, but every morning for at least an hour, Robin and I need to spend some time together, ok?” I hang my head down hearing that, but he was right, we did need to spend some time together. However, that didn’t mean I had to look forward to it. “Ok, Mr. Barrett,” Jess is in agreement as she glared over at Jason, who quickly nodded. “The last rule is that I am begging all three of you not to have s*x or anything, please…” my father looked uncomfortable at having to bring that up and as soon as Jess jumped up from her spot on the couch, I knew she was going to say something that would embarrass me. “You don’t have to worry about that, Mr. Barrett, I’ll make sure these two love birds don’t get any ideas,” her comment and promise made me groan loudly as I pushed myself up from the couch. “Don’t worry dad, I promise not to do anything s****l…” my father looked relieved at my statement, but then I smirked. “Because I won’t do it when you are around,” as I let that sink in, I turned on my heel and hurried toward the passage. “Robin!” I hear my father yell out – again, but I ignore him as I continue my investigation of the house. The first closed-door reveals to be a full bathroom and I leave the door open as I head over to the other door. This one leads to a very nice-looking room with a double bed, and I leave the door open as I go to the spiral staircase. As I headed up the stairs, I could see the others exploring as well. Three doors on the second floor reveal two bedrooms, one with twin beds and the other with a double bed, and the third door reveals to be another bathroom. Both bedrooms led to the balcony I had seen earlier, and I knew this was going to be awesome as I imagined me and my friends hanging out up there. “Which room do you want?” I looked over my shoulder to see my father standing in the middle of the room. “I think this one,” I said as I leaned against the stone railing and gazed out at the ocean. “And Jason?” he questioned, and I shrugged in response. I couldn’t care less which room he wanted to sleep in. “This place is beautiful,” Jess remarked as I heard her come into the room, and I turned around to see that not only had my father left but that she had brought our bags up. “You ok with this room?” I asked and she looked around before nodding. I smiled to myself as I turned back around to look out at the view and honestly don’t think I would ever get tired of watching the waves as they roll in or the smell of the salty breeze or the heat of the sun.   “Jason picked the room next to this one,” Jess informed me as she joined me on the balcony. I did not doubt that if we had to go into that room right now, Jason would be on the double bed. I thought back to when I had first attended high school and I had met Jess as I wandered around the hallway looking for the reception. She had kindly shown me around and when lunchtime had come around, she had introduced me to her only friend, Jason. The three of us became inseparably and it is entirely possible that this was one of the reasons I couldn’t stand my own pack. Although the three of us did most things together, Jason had his other group of friends, or actually his soccer friends, and they enjoyed teasing Jess and me. “We are going to get pizza!” Jason called up and I looked down to see him and my father on the sundeck below. “I want pepperoni!” Jess demanded and I saw my father shake his head as he led Jason off the deck and around the house. “So, are you going to tell me how this happened?” I waited until I could hear the engine of the car start before. I went back inside and flopped down on the bed. Jess knew everything there was to know about me, including the fact that I am not all human. “Jason and I got caught making out in my room two nights ago,” I explained as Jess sat down on the other bed. “Dad kicked him out and then this happened,” “And when he mentioned that you two had to spend some time together…what was that all about?” “I may have lost my cool when my father made a comment about my mom. That resulted in me being thrown in the cellar and my Alpha informing me about this arrangement…ultimately, I need to use this vacation to accept the rules of the pack and change my attitude,” I further explained, and Jess slowly nodded in understanding. “And if you don’t?” she then asked as she laid back. “Then dad and I get banished from the pack,” Jess sat back up and the shocked look on her face made me realize just how important this vacation is. “Well, s**t!”
