“Are the contractions bad?”
The worry I felt drowned the pain I was feeling earlier. Luigi’s question pulled me back to reality and grounded me. Unfortunately, it also reminded me that I was in pain.
He drove towards Riley and Alpha Earl’s house as she instructed. I nodded and took deep breaths, trying to match the contractions while trying my best not to pass out in both pain and fear.
Luigi held my hand, “We’re near. You’ll be okay.”
I didn’t respond, though I appreciated his effort to comfort me. I thought the pain would be the last thing that I would be thinking about, but I’ve definitely overestimated myself. Every contraction makes me shriek or flinch.
