K: Breaking Rules

1283 Words
3 Months Ago The club was better than it's been in months. My girls and I were here for a good time, and so far we couldn't complain. But the night was still young. We joked our way over to the bar, all while eying the crowd for men to buy us drinks. I tapped impatiently on the counter for the bartender. After a few minutes have passed and I realized I didn't have his attention, I began to snap my fingers. His intense dark eyes turned to me in that minute, a slight annoyance present on his features. His low cut hair, slightly pink lips, and high cheekbones threw me off. His caramel skin made my panties wet at the thought of running my tongue along it. Maybe tonight will be fun after all. I bit my lip playfully as I called him over with my finger. "What can I get you ladies?" His tone was deep and unexpectantly taming. I wondered if he could tame someone like me. I laughed at the thought. "You're new" I commented as I ran my finger down his jaw line and over his lips. He didn't pull away like I expected. He stood his ground, making it clear I wasn't going to intimidate him. "You're perceptive" he replied with a straight face. "One of my many talents" I admitted flirtatiously as I took one of the cherries from a glass beside me and popped it into my mouth. The person who sat at the bar raised an eyebrow at me suggestively, but I rolled my eyes, turning back to my prey. "Is that so?" he wondered playfully. "Are you going to order something?" some brunette yelled from down the bar. I ignored her and turned to my friends. "What are we having?" I asked them as I rested my hand playfully on his. "The usual" Laura moaned in boredom. She was eying the bartender disapprovingly and rolling her eyes. I disregarded her attitude and turned back to the gorgeous man in front of me. "A bottle of tequila, please." I watched joyfully as he retrieved the bottle from the display. "Is it on the house?" I questioned. "I would usually like to be taken out for dinner before I get used for free drinks." He smiled wolfishly. Touche. I batted my eyes coyly, pouting my lips as I placed my credit card on the counter. If Jake saw one more liquor bottle on his credit card bill he was going to flip his s**t. I promised I would stop partying but I needed this. Shawn was back in my life and my whole world was slowly crumbling. He pushed the bottle of tequila and my credit card towards me. "On the house" he mumbled. I beamed from ear to ear as if this was my first free liquor from the bar. "What a gentleman you are..." "Alex" he nodded. "Alex" I moaned as I leaned over to kiss his cheek, grabbing the bottle and disappearing to my booth. "What the f**k are you doing Kim?" Paulette spat. "What?" I gawked "There are guys who have money and guys who don't. Guys you flirt with and guys you stare clear from. A bartender you stare clear from" Amy explained. "Listen b***h, I made those rules. If I want to break them, I will break them. Don't ever try and tell me how my rules work." I glowered as I crossed my legs and squared my shoulders. Everyone lowered their eyes from my gaze, seeming to find something interesting on their phones. It seemed they forgot who ran things, I scoffed. I poured myself a glass, resting the bottle in front of me. No one made a move for the bottle. I turned my head back to the bar, returning back to my interest of the night. He seemed occupied, as if the girls at the bar kept him busy. I grew tired and irritated watching him smile at everyone he served, collecting numbers as he worked through the hours. No one asked me to join them on the dance floor, no one daring enough to speak to me. After the crowd died down and the music started to slow in tempo, I found that I sat in my seat all night staring at Alex. Alex, I smiled as I said his name in my head. Why was he so attractive to me? I needed to get him out of my head for good, and there was only one way to do that. "We are heading out" Amy mumbled to me as she tried to give me a one armed hug. "Drive safe" I waved, dismissing them. They blew dramatic kisses to me and I faked a smile, happy to see them leave. I straighten my blouse when I saw Alex finally get ready to head out for the night. I paced myself as I made my way to the parking lot. When I heard the back door of the club opened, I dropped my car keys on the floor, sighing heavily as I tried to retrieve it. When I didn't hear any movement towards me, I dropped them again. This time someone got to them before I could, his body lightly brushing against mine. "Need some help?" He asked worriedly. "I'm fine" I answered sheepishly, slowly retrieving my keys from his palm making sure to linger in contact. It was not what I was use to; the sudden shock of electricity every time we touched, let alone talked. I just met him and I was willing to through my entire rule book out. The girls were right; he was totally out of my league. But weirdly, I was willing to make an exception. Just for tonight. "I'll drive you home." He offered as we rose to our feet. "That's okay" I brushed off, pushing the key into my car, opening it. He slammed my open door shut and I froze. Did he... did he just slam my eighty thousand dollar car door? I turned to him in sudden annoyance. This was definitely not worth it. He grabbed my keys before I could react. "You shouldn't be driving" he decided. "I'm fine" I sighed, grabbing at my keys. Game over. I was bored. "Give me my keys busboy." I snapped rudely. "You have a sharp little tongue on you, don't you?" he narrowed his eyes at me, pocketing my keys. "You have no idea" I pursed my lips. "Keys, now" "Bossy, too" he mumbled as he walked over to his car. My mouth opened as I watched him enter his car, opening the passenger door from the inside. "You staying out here all night?" he asked. --- "You can't possibly be serious" I scold Brandy as she wrote in the black leather book in front of her. "I am, Kimberly. We don't date lower than our class, it's the rules" she informed me seriously as she continued her scribble. "I don't life by rules" I informed her. "Everyone live by rules. Either rules made by others, or themselves." She quarreled, holding my chin, gripping it. "Do you want my help getting through these four years or not?" "I just asked for help on my paper" I grumbled. "Don't be an ungrateful twit. We are family, don't you trust me?" "Of course I trust you Brandilyn." "Good. Now, what are the rules?" I sighed. "We don't date lower than our class, money gets the honey, friends are everything..." I kept reciting the words without much awareness. Well, it could be worse, I thought. I could be completely alone with no one to help me here... I was lucky.
