As I waited for Jay to finish changing, I walked around the main floor of the house. She had cleared everything out. All that was left were boxes that lined one of the walls in the front room. In the last week, she had been busy, and I wondered if this meant she had made up her mind about selling everything and leaving for good. The thought of that caused pain in my chest, and I knew I would have to find a way to convince her to stay. On top of that, I would have to try and talk her into staying with me for now until we figured out who shot at her house. From what the guys could find earlier, it was a targeted thing. Someone either really didn't like her dog or wanted to scare her enough to drive her out of town. And since whoever it was, was long gone by the time Cookie or I got outside,
