CAILEAN'S POV
I scanned the crowd when I reached the garden to look for Dylan, but I couldn't find him anywhere-- instead, I spotted my mom behind the grill, busy flipping sausages and steaks.
"What's cookin', mom?!" I joked as I jumped on her side and gave her a side hug.
"The usual barbecue stuff. I missed the times when we used to do a barbecue in our backyard. Remember when you were eight years old, and you put your hotdog toy on the grill, and it melted?" Mom said and looked at me with a mischievous smile.
"I cried thinking that the grill ate my hotdog," I said and laughed at my silliness, and so did mom.
"How do you feel, mom? How's your head?" I asked, concerned about the head injury she got three days ago.
"I'm ok, dear. As if nothing happens. The cut wasn't that deep." She smiled. Then mom stopped whatever she's doing and turned to me.
"You look lovely, my darling, and I love the way you delivered your speech. We shouldn't have kept the truth from you for so long. We should have raised you for who you are." Mom said in a tone of regret as she played with my curls. "It's ok, mom. You did that just to protect me. You and granny." I said and hugged her.
"Of course we did." She said and placed a kiss on my head.
"By the way, I need to go back home tomorrow. Can't leave your granny alone for a long time." Mom added while still hugging.
"I understand. I will miss you," I uttered in disappointment. I wish mom and granny could just stay here with me, or at least I could stay with them for a while, but my training will start tomorrow. Dylan told me that he would help with my transition, and training is essential to this change.
"Enjoy your party." Mom said as we pulled from the hug.
"I will." I smiled.
"By the way, mom, have you seen Dylan by any chance?" I asked, remembering that I was looking for him.
"Did someone call out my name?" Dylan announced behind me, and I quickly turned around to confront him.
"Where have you been? I was looking all over for you. I thought you went MIA." I said, c*****g an eyebrow.
"I will never do that, especially not with you. I just went inside to fix some things." He explained.
"What things?" I asked, crossing my arms against my chest.
"You will see," he said with a nasty smile and gave me a lustful look.
"Oh my gosh! Will you stop it?! Not in front of mom!" I scolded Dylan, feeling so embarrassed that he's thinking something s****l while in front of her. But mom didn't seem to bother, and she just laughed at us. I just rolled my eyes in disbelief.
"Can you come with me for a while?" Dylan asked, and his mood suddenly changed from being playful to serious.
"O... Ok..." I stuttered as I suddenly grew nervous.
"Catch you later, mom," I said before I let Dylan drag me to wherever he's taking me.
"Where are you taking me?" I asked, feeling a bit frustrated as he continues to drag me past the crowd.
"Just be patient, my love. We'll get there." He smiled.
"You better not pull a trick on me, Mr. Walker, or else you'll be dead meat!" I threatened, not liking the idea that he is keeping something from me. I noticed that we were going in the lake's direction and before we reached halfway, Dylan halted and walked in front of me, facing me.
"I want you to close your eyes, and from here, I will guide you at your every step." He said affectionately and held my hands. I stared at him for a while, with narrowed eyes, before I decided to give in to what he said.
"Don't worry, I got you," Dylan assured me as he noticed my uncertainty in every step I made. I smiled at what he said, feeling more comfortable. I increased my pace as I gave him my full trust. He is my protector, and he will never let anything bad happen to me or that will hurt me, not intentionally. I've seen him suffer just to protect me, and dang, how lucky I am to have a protector like him. I am blessed to have a superman of my own, and not everyone in the world can be given that privilege.
"Don't open your eyes yet." He said as we took our stop, and I can say that we are in front of the lake or near it, for I can smell the fresh water and feel the cool, moist breeze that dampens my skin.
"And no peeking!" He added, and I snorted from the way he said it. He sounds like a kid who's about to give her mother a gift on Mother's Day.
"Ok, no peeking..." I drawled. Then he let go of my hand and moved to my side.
"Now open." He ordered, and as soon as I opened my eyes, A beautiful fireworks display greeted me. The fireworks display is tremendously beautiful, and I feel like I am watching a Pyrolympics.
I put my arm around Dylan's waist while his arm wrapped around my shoulder. We watched the fireworks quietly, wholly drawn to their beauty. Then, after a few moments, Dylan removed his hand from my shoulder and went in front of me.
"Cailean." He said and took my hands, placing them against his chest directly to his heart and looking at me tenderly. Then, he let go of my hands and reached for his pocket, taking out a small black box. My heart skips a beat when Dylan slowly bent on his knees while keeping the box up where I can clearly see it. I couldn't breathe, thinking of what he was about to say or ask. Is this really happening? Is he really going to? Tears streamed down my cheeks as he opened the box, revealing a pea-size diamond ring. Suddenly, the fireworks had stopped leaving us under the deafening silence of the night.
"I cannot imagine a life without you, and most of all, I will never be whole without you. Your love and presence brought light to my heart when it was consumed by the darkness of sorrow and saved me from the curse of loneliness. Cailean Anderson, will you marry me and be my light forever?" I can feel the graveness of Dylan's emotion in every word he said, and my tears kept on flowing down my cheeks like a waterfall. I am beyond overwhelmed right now, totally in full bliss. I can't believe this is really happening.
Before I could answer Dylan's question, a series of explosions caught my attention. I looked up in the sky to see the fireworks, which started again, and this time it shows the words "Marry Me." I smiled at the view with my heart swelling with joy before I shifted my gaze to Dylan.
"Yes, I will marry you and will be your everlasting light," I uttered in joy while cupping his cheeks.
He removed the ring from the box with his right hand and placed the box on the ground, and then he used his left hand to reach for my right hand, which is still resting against his cheek.
"May I?" He grinned, and I did the same. Finally, I offered my hand to him, and he delicately slid the ring into my finger.
"I love you so much, Cailean." He said as soon as he got up and sealed it with a tender kiss on my lips.
"I love you too, Dylan, more than you could ever imagine," I said as I pulled from the kiss. Dylan pressed his forehead against mine and held my left hand. He lifted it in line with the moon, showing off its beauty. Then cheers echoed throughout the woods as the pack joined us on our special moment, and Dylan and I faced them with a wide smile.
"Congratulations, Alpha and Luna!" The pack greeted in unison. Mom, Mia, and Jean came to hug me while the guys did the same to Dylan. And the night continues loaded with nothing but happiness and with our overflowing love.
