Chapter 10

1219 Words
The next morning we are in Lorenzo’s office making plans to address the threat against Luna Anna and the pack. Lorenzo has placed Anna under the constant supervision of his Gamma, Jake and a few of the pack warriors, much to Anna’s annoyance. She understands why it is necessary but she still seems irritated by the constant surveillance she is now under. Unfortunately, Anna has no idea who could be after her so this left us with not much information to go on.  “We can’t just wait around for their next attack. We need to send trackers out to try and find where the bastard is hiding.” James states plainly.  “I briefed my Commander on the situation last night and he suggests that we now look to our allies close by for support. If the rogues have indeed increased in numbers and are now working under a leader, then we will need more warriors to defend the territory.” I explain.  “James do you think you could contact your friend? He has always offered us support. I’m sure he has a large pack of warriors some of which have special expertise in tracking.” Lorenzo asks, looking to James for an answer.  “On it Alpha, he will help us out. I’ll invite him to the pack for talks about how we can move forward.” James replies while pulling his phone from his pocket and heading out of the door.  “Okay until we have further support in place, everyone must remain on high alert.” Lorenzo says to everyone in the room. Everyone nods and begins to disperse. He sits down in his chair and shuts his eyes tightly.  “It will be okay you know, we will get the bastard and Anna will be safe. We would all lay down our lives for her. Myself included.” I offer him a supportive smile.  He nods his head gently and smiles sadly.  “Thanks Ella. I appreciate your help with all of this.”  I head back to my room and decide it’s about time to phone my family for a catch up. I talk with my parents on video chat for well over an hour and am surprised and elated to find out that my bother Jaxon has found his mate. My mom gushes about how pretty she is and how amazing her and Jaxon are together. Apparently she’s a nurse at a pack hospital and they met in a bar a couple of weeks back. I suddenly feel a little guilty that I have been so wrapped up in my work that I haven’t connected with my family in a while. After phoning my family I call my friend Mia.  “Ahhh, I can’t believe it’s really you! You do know that I haven’t heard from you in weeks and you promised to phone me once you were settled!” She squeals out over the phone.  “I know Mia. I’m sorry I just got so caught up in work I guess. I’m just a couple of hours away at the Crecent Moon pack.” I state.  “s**t no way. Your kidding! Well you do know this means that we have to meet up. Maybe I could come out and visit you? I have some holiday time coming to me.” She replies excitedly.  Mia is a lawyer for the pack. She’s loyal and fierce and works incredibly hard.  “I’d love that Mia. I think you would hit it off with the Luna here. Her name is Anna. She reminds me so much of you. She’s a bloody hugger and a bit of a match maker too.” I laugh back.  “Sounds like she is my kind of girl! Maybe she can help sort out my pathetic love life.” Mia giggles. “Are there any cute guys there Ella? I mean I know you are busy but it shouldn’t stop you from letting a cute guy show you the time of your life for a night or two.” She laughs loudly now.  I briefly consider telling her about James but something stops me. I think that ship has kind of sailed off and f*****g sunk to the bottom of the ocean anyway.  “Nahh, I’ll be fine. Can’t say I wouldn’t enjoy a bit of male company but I’m not so desperate at the minute.” I chuckle back.  “Okay well let me know when I can visit and I’ll let my work know alright? Love you lots Ell.”  I hang up the phone and smile to myself. Whatever man ends up with that girl is going to have a job on his hands taming her I’ll tell you that.  ***  Another few days pass by and there has been no sign of another attack or intel to suggest one is imminent. James had managed to get a hold of his friend who has offered us his best trackers when he returns from an Alpha conference abroad.  We are all sitting eating in the dinner hall when James enters and takes a seat beside Anna, Kiera and I.  “Ella, I’m heading out to meet my friend tonight at a local club. His warriors are keen to let off some steam after the long journey back from the conference so they are dropping in for a few drinks before they head here for our meetings tomorrow.” He states while tucking into his plate of food.  “A few of us are going. If you and your team would like to tag along?”  “Yeah actually that could be fun, the team deserve a little down time and I am interested in meeting this friend you speak so highly of.” I reply back happily.  “Good it’s settled. We will leave here at 10pm then if that’s okay?” I nod and continue eating while Keira gets up excitedly to go off and get ready.  “Oh yess!! I need to get out of here. This house is driving me bananas!” Anna lets out an exasperated laugh.  James shuffles in his chair awkwardly and runs his hand through his hair. Rather him than me, I think to myself knowing exactly what he is about to say.  “Well Luna the thing is, you eh... you’re not allowed to come. Alpha’s orders. You are to stay at home with him where you are safe.” James stubbles on his words as he watches Anna’s small fists hitting the table.  “Oh for Goddess sake!! This is getting ridiculous. I mean that rogue could have been telling a load of lies and I’m like a caged animal in this house.” She stomps away from the table still mumbling to herself angrily and James and I laugh loudly knowing that Lorenzo has no idea that storm Anna is about to hit his office.
