Chapter Five- An Unwilling Promise

2003 Words
Juliette paused for a moment in disbelief as she had always known her father to be a businessman first and foremost. However, she wasn't a deal that could be made over caviar and a 1945 Romanee-Conti on a lavish yacht. She was a woman of high expectations and a deep soul that felt as though she no longer had a say due to the circumstances she found herself within.  "You will never get to touch me." She spoke in a deep sincerity to him with anger dripping from her tongue. Her pulse began to race for the sole fact that her father still believed he could use her as a pawn to weaken his opponents and sweeten deals with a promise he never intended to keep. However, as she looked to Dimitri, she knew that his intentions had been different, as well as his gaze that set upon her. "My father isn't my keeper, he hasn't even-ever been a father! Therefore he had no right." She commented firmly as a look of humor sat upon Dimitri's lips.  "Of all the men in this world, those with deviant s****l desires that border illegal and you would prefer a chance alongside them instead?" She was momentarily silenced by his point. "I can and will protect you, which is why he has chosen me to be the one to keep you safe to begin with." Her eyes watched him carefully as he ran his fingers through his soaked locks before bringing one hand to the tree she now rested against. "The point is, you can put yourself in any direction and you will either find a creature that wants to kill you or someone who will use you-" "Oh? And you aren't using me?" He moved closer into her, his lips close enough to kiss her if they were to pucker.  "What am I getting from a stubborn woman whose heart is still healing from losing her boyfriend?" She paused, unable to argue against him. Even if she had come close to allowing herself the chance to be the next notch on his belt, she was more thankful now than ever that she didn't allow this to be the case.  "Then why agree?" He now pulled back from her, bringing his focus to their damp clothes and the road they still had yet to travel before them. Luckily, the heat from the day's weather would dry their clothes rather quickly, even if the rest of them would remain unkempt and disheveled. For the beginning of their trek that began with a full distance having yet to be determined, Juliette struggled making her way up the thick rocks that led to the main road ahead. With her feet bare and dainty, evidence of great self care due to perfectly pedicured toes colored a cobalt blue, she was forced at Dimitri's mercy.  "Take my hand." He attempted to order her as she narrowed her gaze to him, pushing through the pain of the mismatched stones beneath her. Having made it to the top of the rocks themselves, one came loose beneath her footing, sending her downwards. Dimitri's hand took hold of her wrist, using his strength alone to push her over the lip of the ledge and take hold of her waist to bring her to his spot on the side of the road. Silence fell between them for a moment as his gaze fell to her lips as they were close enough to kiss. Their glossed and plump existence having teased him as if he had been a man dying of dehydration and her lips were the only liquid sustenance. His body seemed to take control over his better reasoning as he took his hand to her cheek, lacing his fingers through her damp hair, and parting his lips in preparation of a kiss.  "You want to know why I agreed to your father's proposal? Because that means you will be mine." Her own lips fell open to his words. "And it will be because you want to...not because you must." With this, Dimitri pulled away from her lips and began walking down the dusty road unmarked by infrequent use. Without a sense of direction on her own accord, Juliette followed behind him, allowing the words he spoke to soak into her like the water that was finally beginning to dry. It would be a blistering heat as the sun made its way to the highest point in the sky; marking midday. Both Juliette and Dimitri had begun to feel the effects of the heat, but managed to reach a small town set upon a bay that allowed them solace from the harsh rays of the sun. Dimitri spoke for them both as they were allowed a seat at a bar that overlooked the water. For the majority of their lunch, they hadn't spoken more than two words to each other-but then Juliette's mind and the theories present inside had forced her to question him.  "Who were those men on the train?" She asked as she took a final sip of the wine in her glass before motioning for a refill.  "Business associates." He answered before overruling her request to the bartender. Glaring at him momentarily, she realized the conversation at hand had been stronger than her desire for Merlot.  "Do all of your associates try to kill you?" He narrowed his eyes to her for a moment before leaning closer towards her to keep from those passing nearby from hearing whatever words had been spoken from his lips.  "My life is dangerous, but it also allows me the ability to cover you. Now finish eating, it will be a little while before we eat again." He managed to speak in a threat and care in a collection of two sentences that made her feel immediately intimidated. With other men in her life, even her father, she was able to stand her ground in being independent and headstrong. But as she looked across the table she couldn't help but feel if perhaps he was the only one that truly wanted to protect her.  When lunch came to an end, Dimitri set his arm upon her lower back to show possession as eyes of lustful men fell onto her. She found an odd tranquility that fell over her in regards to his touch, as if his persona had been a form of armor among a world that wanted to hurt her. As they made their way out into the street, Dimitri managed to charm a woman waiting for her lunch date to return with their car to use her cell phone. Doing this, he spoke in complete Italian while his arm remained on Juliette's back. Thanking the woman, he then led Juliette across the way to a hotel that was in great use of tourists. Accents spread from around the world echoed in the building as he gave a name behind a woman at the desk and was handed a brass key decorated with a red tassel hanging from its head.  "You will not be here long…" he assured her as they moved into the room to see one large bed in the center of the room and a desk across from this. A bathroom with a rug instead of a door worked as the only privacy as Juliette looked in astonishment.  "I could have used my information to at least get a Best Western or something…" she commented while wincing at the sight of mold and deceased bugs on the windowsill.  "And alert everyone coming after you of where you are?"  "And how is being in this room beneficial to my health?"  He glared at her for a moment, holding this expression until watching her own eyes fall to the ground when feeling his gaze having grown too strong.  "Perhaps I am a complete i***t for agreeing to watch after you…" he began. "But when will you learn to listen and stop asking so many goddamn questions?" "You haven't given me a reason to trust you!" She yelled back to him. "If not for my own words against your apparent colleagues, I would have been raped and killed. You let me fall God knows how many feet from a moving train into water, walked miles in the scorching sun, and now tell me to trust you?! My father made whatever agreement or promise without my knowledge or consent and it will always be that way...I will never consent to you." At first, Dimitri seemed alarmed by her words, but upon reaching the end of her spiel, a smile spread his cheeks onto a wicked smirk.  "You think you can fend better on your own? Then leave." He spoke harshly while opening the door for her to go. She began to move towards the hallway of the hotel before his arm stopped her from crossing the threshold. "You will never have anybody who will have your best interest at heart...but you do not seem to understand my positioning here." He paused for a moment as her head slowly turned to meet his gaze. "You are mine in every sense of the word, Juliette. But until you beg me to ravage you, it will be in every way but physical." "I will never let you touch me." She spoke against him before he took her to the side of the door, his body pressed against her own. A gasp left her lips as she was able to feel his member growing against her.  "I do not have to touch you to make you want me." He began, his hand firm on the wall behind her, just grazing her skin with his own. "But I can feel you tense near me...looking away to catch your breath or gather your bearings. I can see you tremble whenever my hand is on you and see the pulse of your heart upon your breast. I see you part your lips when I'm close in anticipation of a kiss and close your eyes in imagining the way it would feel if you would allow yourself to let go for one instant." He now set his lips against her ear, his breath hot on her skin as he continued to speak. "I hear you whimper my name and moan as you squirm...but you are too good to allow yourself to let me touch you. You crave it...and it shows when you don't push me away."  "Why would I? You would just come back anyway." She verbally rivaled him as he pulled back from her.  "I am not going anywhere, Juliette...I will be here to raise your blood pressure and exceed your average beating pulse. I will be here to hear you whisper my name and moan in the thoughts of my touch." He then brought his hand to her chin, his fingers resting on her cheeks, gripping lightly. "And I will be there when you want me so very deeply that you soak those panties at the very thought...and I will be there to make you come when you cannot contain it anymore." He pulled back from her, seeing her momentarily breathless. "I am dying to know if they are now…" he looked to her, her eyes watching his every movement. "But I am a gentleman, and will not force you to fu*k me. But mark my words. You will want me to." Leaving her this way, Dimitri left her incapable of standing on her own as he had been correct with her panties behind damp by his words. Now all her mind could think of had been his touch. Each second in his close proximity, she knew she was growing weaker to his advances. And if he were to speak like this to her again; she would certainly be putty in his hands. For this reason alone, she had to keep her distance; no matter the cost-no matter the desire, even as it continued to bloom.
