Red couldn’t breathe in the moments before Cath spoke. Earlier when he realized Cath was gone, his whole world threatened to crumble around him. The carefully built walls, the fragile sanity, the only future he had left, all gone on the brink of a moment. The female, Nela, informed him that Cath had left and with a smug expression on her scarred face watched him fight for air.
