They went into the hotel the same way they’d left, by the back entrance and the stairs. Wayne ran a security check while Lou and Rae waited outside their rooms, deeming them safe when he finished. Still, he set up more items he’d gotten when they had been at the house.
“This is now a veritable Fort Knox,” Lou said as he began to get ready for bed.
“Better that than…”
Lou stopped him with a kiss, muttering, “I know, I know. Now shush. I have plans and they do not include worrying about how safe we are. If someone does break in, at least I’ll die knowing I was well loved, physically and emotionally.”
Wayne proceeded to prove he was right on both counts before they fell asleep in each other’s arms.
