He flopped into an oversized leather chair and groaned, rubbing his eyes. He missed her. He stared at the selfie he’d taken of the four of them the first night they’d all stayed together, piled into one bed, watching a movie on his laptop. He and Bobbie had dodged question after question about why Max and Ollie couldn’t have a baby brother or sister and he’d distracted them with begging for a selfie. He’d made it his screensaver and now he sat in the dark and traced her face on his screen. He jumped when the phone rang in his hand, and he laughed at himself.
