Chapter 6

Omar's POV "Alpha? What did you just say?" Jason raised his head fast with suspicion in his eyes. I laid down on the couch with my legs casually crossed, sneering. "Omar, here are only you in this room and me. I have the gift." he suddenly whispered in a warning tone. He was warning me that I was "weak" without any gift and he might kill me secretly here. "Yes. But how do I create the vision for you to see my past? Is it a kind of my gift?" I pushed my coffee cup to the couch table edge, watching it smash on the floor and break. Jason stared at me warily, muttering, "Yes, how did you get that vision...?" "Sadly, my cup broke," I said and squatted down, picking up a piece of glass before standing up. His face was pale as paper, baffled. I smiled, "you'll know the reason very soon. Don't look at me. Check your neck." Just as he dipped his head, the piece of glass in my hand flew out, accurately cutting his neck. A flood of blood escaped his flesh, streaming down his T-shirt in a second, crimson spreading from the place to his heart. "You...have gifts? Your...speed is...fast...." he couldn't believe he would die, still mustering his every effort to argue with me. I didn't pay more attention to him, striding to the door, mind-linking Alex. "Open the door." Alex pulled open the door, and Jason slammed to the floor, dead. "f**k! Jason's dead?" Alex asked. I rolled my eyes. "So what?" Alex frantically rubbed his hair, "Alpha! You are now pretending to be lacking gifts or fighting skills as the weakest Alpha in the Werewolf Land. You have killed more than ten people in one afternoon! Keep low-key please! It's troublesome for me to clean the mass you made!" "Who killed Peter?" I asked. "Zopia, the female Beta of the East Pack. Did you hear what I said???" he boomed out. "Remember to change a curtain for me. Jason's blood stained my curtain." I patted his shoulder and walked away. He shouted behind in agony. "I'm your beta, not your servant!" "Poor Alex." Ryder talked inside. I coughed fiercely, smiling at my pack member on the road. "Are you interested in being a dumb wolf, cute Ry?" I warned him. "Poor me." Ryder cried a little before vanishing. ... It was late in the evening when I reached the East Pack. Just as I stepped into the Pack, a heavenly scent hit me. MATE. I knew I was going to find her. Not excited, though Ryder was nearly dancing inside me. I had zero interest in bonding with a she-wolf. Wolves who are controlled by the mate bond to fall in love with their mates are stupid. Ryder loves reading werewolf novels about a powerful Alpha who meets his mate (mostly a poor she-wolf). Then they love each other at first sight, one of the stupidest things I have ever seen. "Our mate's scent is strong now! She must be around here!" Ryder reminded me. I stopped at the back of a gray building, noticing nobody was there. Even my guards were left behind. I popped up my chest to straighten myself, inhaling the scent. Ryder was right. Our mate was definitely somewhere around. The sky was dark as ink without any shining stars, but a fire lit up the building, lightening the atmosphere. In between that dazzling fire, a girl climbed out. Ryder screamed, "she's our mate. Mate! Mate!" "Shut up," I said, crossing my arms to my chest and looking at her. Ryder murmured, "how can you be so calm seeing our mate? Are you really a werewolf?" "Dumb." I spat out a word; he was quiet. I watched as that girl, my mate, sank into the darkness. The moon shined, drawing out her slim figure, which was too skinny, as compared to a she-wolf, she was more like an abandoned cat. Her bare foot stomping on the stone every step caused her to have a tiny cut dripping blood. Her one step missing might lead to her falling vertically, as if a morning bird shot by my pistol, dropping to the land, with her wings snapped. I could recognize her face even in the dark with my wolf's sight. Her scary, scarred face told me she was Zopia. I had read information about Zopia, an orphan girl, the youngest Beta, and the first Beta not belonging to the Beta bloodline. She had so many titles, a legendary girl. My Alpha peers used to brag about the feeling of meeting their mates. According to their descriptions, they were eager to rip up mates' clothes, mark mates' torsos, lick mates' necks and breasts, crash them into their bodies and break them from outside to the inside. But here I was, and things were totally different. Seeing her struggle to live, like a weed sowed by no one, lack of water, in need of sunlight, grew up becoming the most glorious flower dangling under the bright moonlight. She was like a valuable porcelain, broken but perfectly broken. No lust or dirty thoughts, I just couldn't believe the mate bond could make me have such strong feelings and so many ideas for a stranger. Somehow, anxious emotion rushed through me, with a deep hatred of being controlled by the mate bond. A witch criminal once cursed that the one who would destroy me in the future was my mate, the one I loved most. The only way to avoid this devastating destiny is to kill my mate with my hands. When I witnessed my mate throw her body, falling from the wall, I stretched out my arms, not overthinking. She stumbled into my cuddle like a bird with wings snapped, easy to be killed. She froze for thirty seconds. As soon as our skin made contact, the mate bond sparked and butterflies erupted in my stomach. My body and heart were tingling and boiling hot with her squirming in my cuddle. I have a foreboding that her existence may influence me profoundly. If I let her be in the world, just like that witch's prediction, her existence will someday become my most prominent weakness. I walked to the gate, and she silently scrutinized me, so calmly even under these dangerous circumstances. I could see then she started to figure out a way of fighting it off. Ryder asked, "why did you save her?" I replied, "I didn't plan to save her." Ryder said, "whatever, both of you are weird. She isn't excited about seeing us. " I responded plainly, "she is planning to escape." "Seriously? How do you know?" "My sixth sense tells me." When we arrived at the gate, I put her down and handed her my water bottle. "Thank you." She said. But after she took a sip, the gratefulness in her eyes disappeared the next minute, and her knife was pushed into my neck. As I expected, she would escape but, beyond my expectations, she threatened to kill me and run right then. I sneered inwardly as her action proved that she was indeed a threat to me. The mate bond was still sparking at where she touched me, even though it was her finger holding the knife to my neck. Ridiculous. "My bloody hell! You guys are really mates, the same mad killers." Ryder yelled inside. This time, my thoughts about her were the same as Ryder's. Having been a cold-hearted killer Alpha for years, I won't be controlled by anything. The more the mate bond told me I should love her, the more I was eager to wipe her out, to get rid of this uncertain ticking bomb. I brought her out in the first place so I could end her life with my own hands. I thought at least she would pretend to be good until I took her back to my Pack. The impulse to melt her knife into steel water and stab her heart immediately crossed my mind. But so many of my pack guards were behind, and we were in front of the East Pack; it was not the right time to expose my current abilities. I had pretended to be weak and fragile over the years. I should not fail here. I let her go, watching her slim figure overwhelmed by the dark, tense forest. "Alpha, do we need to chase her back?" A guard behind asked me. "No need." "Why? Isn't she... your mate?" I glimpsed the guard. Not bad. He was good at observing me. "I put some potion in the water she drank. She will suffer without the antidote." I said as I pretentiously coughed. Ryder shouted in my mind, "You drugged your own mate before, as you had already guessed she would escape?" "Yes, she needs the antidote, so, she will find the way back to me." So I can terminate her life and confirm the death of the threat. Hearing my words, Ryder choked for air. Stupid wolf.
