1. Wedding crasher

Charlotte I adjusted my veil and held her hands. I bided my time well. My recording device was giving me the feed I needed to make my entrance at the perfect time. “Whoever has any reason as to why these two should not be joined in holy matrimony should speak now or forever hold their peace” The priest said and I pushed the double door open shifting everybody’s attention to me. “I…” I started in my loudest voice which was not very loud but the relative silence in the church and the echo helped carry my small voice “I object to this wedding” I stated and started down the aisle. I should confess that when I dreamed of walking down the aisle as a little girl this is not what I had in mind. I did not imagine I would be wearing an exaggerated white dress, holding the hand of a three year old and running the wedding of the man who hurt my sister. At least nobody can say I did not put my heart to it. I am wearing heels and holding a bouquet “What?” The bride questioned turning to her groom with a question in her eyes “Ren, who is she?” “I have no idea” The groom frowned at me and I glared back with all the contempt I was feeling. How dare he decide to leave happily ever after when he ruined my sister’s life? Unacceptable. But since she was too much of a quiet girl to take revenge, I will do it on her behalf “Wait, you?” “Yes me” I say glad he recognized me and was unknowingly implicating himself “What do you want?” He asked and I carried the girl even though my back protested “Do you think the child would have been her age if you hadn’t threatened her to get an abortion?” I ask and was overjoyed by the collective gasp in the crowd. Man, I love drama. I wonder why I did not study theater in school “What child? What is she talking about?” The bride asked and he was quiet “Answer me Ren” “It’s nothing baby” The swine said and I scoffed “Nothing? You forced her and then promised you would marry her you scoundrel” I say “Is that why you are doing this? Where is she?” “None of your business motherfucker” I tell him then turn to the bride “I am guessing you guys have been dating for more than two years. Well, he has been with my sister for the past five years and two years ago, when she got pregnant, he told her to abort it else he would ruin her life and her career. She was so stressed, she miscarried and then the swine promised to marry her to get her to come back to him” “That’s not possible. Ren is not like that. Ren what is going on?” “She is lying baby” He assured her “Security!!!” He called and two heavy looking men came forward. I dropped the girl and told her to go out to the car. The driver was waiting for us. I knew it would be ugly. “I am lying?” I yelled moving out of the way of one security. “Is that right?” I asked but my voice was small which was going to be a problem. Thank god for microphones. I grabbed the abandoned microphone on a pedestal on the alter and by luck, the speakers were on. I switched on the microphone and announced to the world “This man has been cheating on you all the years you were together. He just broke up with my sister two months ago” I tell the bride “He is a horrible human who does not deserve you. Want to know the worst?” I ask the bride as I jump down from the alter to avoid the security “What are you doing? Get her” Ren ordered and I almost fall as I dodge another man. I run into a pew where only one man sat. The security don’t follow. They wait for me on either ends. Time to practice my jump. I climb the seat to jump but stepped on my dress and for a second, I have to hold unto the man for support. Mother of ever-loving sinewy muscles. I looked down and met green eyes but I could not stay. After all, I had other plans. Who said jumping was hard? I was wearing a heavy dress and heels and I managed to outmaneuver these guys. Perhaps I should take up sports. “He stole her money” I announced “You think he is rich? Because of his family name? Nope. He is damned poor. His only property is his house. That car? The one he takes you out on a date in? It is rented. He got my sister to sign over her company accounts and that’s how he got the money for all this” I announce. How do I know this? Why I stalk him of course “Ren is this true?” A lady who I assume is Ren’s mother asked placing a hand on her chest “Of course not mother. She is lying. I said get her” He yelled “If you can deal with a poor, lying, s**t bag, then by all means go ahead with this wedding. As for evidence” I slid out of the way of a security “If there is any jeweler here, you might want to examine his ‘gold’ watch. You might be interested in what you find” I say and run past a security towards the door “Oh yea, and he is a junkie” With that I dropped the mic and ran out I barely hear him say “If she escapes, you will lose your job” But I will escape, cause I had a master plan, I skipped happily to where my getaway car was supposed to be waiting. Why was I seeing asphalt instead of a car? I checked the time on my phone. s**t. Sara’s, my little showgirl, mother said the driver should bring her home by three. It was three fifteen. s**t. This was bad, I could spend a night in jail. When I heard footsteps, I walk into the back alley and looked down at the dress. Good thing it was made from cheap material. I started to rip. I ripped off the puffy sleeves then the big skirt and all the layers till it remained one net and one linen. I ripped the ends so it stopped above my knees. I removed the veil next then removed the wig. Good thing I had a backup plan. They shouldn’t recognize me now. They were looking for a brunette and I am unmistakably blonde. I threw my veil and bouquet down a different alley and like lambs to a s*******r, they went around the wrong way. Whistling in my head, I walked towards the road to hail a cab. That was when strong fingers tightened around my arms and I gasped feeling the first real taste of fear in my mouth since my entire drama started. I closed my eyes expecting to be hit. I hope I live. I am honestly way too young to die. I start a new job on Monday too. This was the wrong time to die. “Who are you?” The person asked and I knew immediately that it was not Ren. Ren sounded like a broken chain saw. His guy’s voice was yummy and delicious even to my fear ridden body. I opened my eyes and met the same green ones I saw earlier. It was sinewy muscles guy. “Hello. Do I know you?” I ask politely because why not? I would get a piece of him of I could but I was better at arguing than flirting so I always settled for being polite in place of being flirty “No. Who are you and why did you do what you just did?” He asked holding my arms tighter. Well, Sinewy muscles is incredibly rude “That is none of your business. Now if you will excuse me” I tried to free myself from his grip but he held on tighter “What?” I ask annoyed. I don’t think I like Sinewy muscles “I asked you a question. Answer me” He ordered and I raised a brow “Listen here Mister. I don’t know who the f**k you think you are but if you don’t remove your hand from me this f*****g second I am going to scream bloody murder and then claw your eyes out” I promised him and he blinked, once-his long, scanty, well arranged lashes fan over his face-before he smirked. What the hell is wrong with this dude? “Go ahead. Scream. In fact, that would probably be better. Call the security here so I don’t have to drag you to them” Shit. He was with them. He was probably Ren’s friend or even his brother. s**t. I tried to get my brain started but it was not responding. “Tell me what I want or else…” I did not hear the rest of his statement as my brain kicked into overdrive. The hands on my arm had relaxed. I yanked myself free and punched him as hard as I could on the face then the stomach. He was clearly not expecting it because he bent forward a bit which was disappointing. I was only an orange belt in karate but I really thought I would get him on the floor. But I still got my chance. I made a run for it and hailed a taxi. He was right behind me so before the taxi even stopped, I hopped in and told him to drive before I even closed the door completely. I looked back as we started moving. The man was standing on the street, his back straight, his expression neutral. I guess my punch only affected him because he was surprised. Yet my hands hurt like a b***h. I flexed my fingers with a sigh “Where to ma’am?” The driver asked and I told him my address. The new address. Ren really did a solid on us. As I trudged into the small bungalow that was now where I live, I dreaded the state I would find her in. She had been a picture of calmness when I walked out this morning but I knew better. She was hurting really bad on the inside. I used my key to enter so I wouldn’t disturb her in case she was sleeping. The moment the door opened, I could hear her soft sobs. My heart cracked open and I felt the rears well up in my eyes too. She had been so strong through it all. When they broke up, she had cried her heart out for a week. Then she had gone back to her normal, cool, collected self. When she realized he had stolen all her money and even some of the funds she was saving for her start-up, she did not break. She went to the police and filed a complaint. When the complaint was cancelled because she was a nobody and he was a Gerald, she had been down but had picked herself up and started all over. So now, hearing her break was hard. I sat in front of her bedroom door and listened. I did not want to disturb her. She would stop crying if she saw me. But she needed to let it all out. “Char?” She called ten minutes after I stopped hearing her sob “Yeah?” I answered “You can come in now” I stood up from the floor and opened her door “You have really heavy footsteps” She explained and I laughed “Hey. No fat shaming” I warned her as I sat beside her. She and I looked like polar opposites at first glance. With her bark brown hair and hazel eyes, she looked like a dark beauty and with my blonde hair, blue yes, I looked like a fairytale come to life. But I think there was a mistake. She was the princess. Although she was older than me by four years, I was the brave, decisive one and she was the calm, cool collected one. If you looked hard enough you’d see the resemblance. We both had cat eyes, full lips, and dimples. And when we smiled we had a lot of lines. “Are you okay?” I asked her and she shrugged. I sigh and pull her into my arms “It will all be fine. I promise” I told her and she rested her head on my shoulder “I know. We have each other. That’s all that matters”
