Chapter 4Shirley’s eyes were wide awake as the hand clasped over her mouth tightly. She felt the scream erupt in her throat but it was stifled instantly causing a sharp, burning sensation through her upper chest. She tried to move, her body springing into action to activate her flight response and leap out of bed but she was held permanently in place by the tight grip over her mouth. Was this it? Was she going to die? A dream. It had to be a dream. This didn’t make any sense, but then again not much in her life had made much sense lately. Why was this happening now? To her? What was she going to do? A thousand thoughts of panic raced through her mind at one hundred miles per hour overflowing her body with adrenaline and fear.
