Gavin
Present
"Are you listening to me?" Patrick asked, pulling my attention back to him. Honestly, no I wasn't listening to him. I was distracted thinking about Melissa. Thinking about the way her perfect f.ucking body melted into mine, the little moan that left her lips, and the way her n****e puckered under my hand. It was probably one of the most innocent encounters I had ever had with a woman but it left me harder than I had ever been. I couldn't get her out of my head, and I had been trying, Jesus Christ had I been trying. Jenni Gray had asked me to look into Phoebe Granger, her husband's girlfriend I guess, I don't know how I had suddenly found myself in the middle of a soap opera but I did enjoy Jenni's company. We had been meeting for coffee and talking a lot about her relationship with Shawn and Phoebe.
She was sweet, and she was definitely beautiful. I had even tried flirting with her a bit to test out the waters and she seemed receptive, so I was thinking of asking her out, maybe going out with someone else would get Melissa off of my mind, "Earth to Gavin!" Pat yelled at me.
"What in the hell could you possibly want? I've already heard the schematics for this building and have approved everything."
"That's great," Pat said with a half smile, "but I was trying to tell you that it looks like you have a guest," he said motioning towards the glass wall that surrounded my office. I looked up and saw Melissa standing outside talking to my receptionist who buzzed me a minute later.
"Mr. Sinclaire, I have a Melissa Green here to see you."
"Go ahead and send her in, Pat and I are done."
"Oh we are?" Pat said, giving me an annoying know it all smirk.
"Yes, now get the hell out of my office." He stood up to leave as Melissa was walking in.
"Oh hi," she told him with a small smile that should be reserved only for me. No, f.uck no, I don't own her smiles. I don't want to own her smiles, I tell myself. Hoping if I repeat the mantra enough I'll start to believe it.
"Hi there, he's all yours," he told her before winking and pulling the door shut behind him, but not before he hit the switch to activate the privacy glass for my walls and door. I was going to kick his ass when I was done meeting with Melissa.
"Um, hello, hi, how are you doing? Sorry I'm not usually a babbler, I'm just, this is a little new to me."
"What is?"
"Ah, business meetings I guess."
"Business meetings, okay, I suppose those can be intimidating," I had a feeling her babbling had more to do with her feeling awkward about our encounter after the gala if the blush creeping up her face was any indication. "So what are you here to talk about, did we have something scheduled?"
"Oh, was there not a meeting scheduled today? I thought Ms. Jones was supposed to have a meeting with you today?"
"She is, in a couple hours," I said looking at her with my eyebrow raised, I couldn't help it, she was cute when she was flustered.
"Oh shoot, I'm sorry, she asked me to come and I could have sworn she said it was this morning. Um okay, I can come back later that's fine I'll just rearrange some stuff."
"No it's alright, I don't have anything that can't be pushed to later. We can meet now. I was supposed to speak with Ms. Jones about the security system upgrades. I have a plan all put in place it will include intercoms, biometric logins, cameras, and bodyguards when the occasion arises that you need them. I would also like to come out once the consctruction is finished to look for possible weak points or blind spots in the security."
"That all sounds wonderful," she tells me as she looks down at her notebook and back up at me, she wants to ask me something I know she does but she seems to be trying to pluck up the courage to do it. "I know you're doing a lot for us already, I know that. So if this ask is too much please tell me and maybe I can try to raise the additional funds for it."
"Melissa," I say cutting her off, "just ask, the worst I can say is no, but I don't think I'll be saying no to you. I have a feeling Ms. Jones knew exactly what she was doing sending you here instead of coming herself." She c****d her head to the side as she stared at me with wide eyes.
"I'm sorry I don't understand what you mean."
I just laugh at her, "nevermind continue with your ask okay?"
"Yeah, sorry about that, okay I was wondering if it would be possible to install panic buttons around the shelter? Not in every room but in the common areas, and maybe at the entrances. I just, I know how dangerous some of the situations are that these women find themselves in. It's not like we've never had men try to bust their way into the shelter. Thankfully, our doors are usually strong enough to hold them and police know how quickly they have to respond to our calls but if we didn't have to grab the phone and dial, if we just had a button to push that connected us with the police I thought it, it might just be..."
"Better," I filled in for her when she trailed off. "I agree, I like it, and don't worry about the cost, we will cover it and add it to the plan."
"Okay perfect, well, um I think that's it. I'll take the plan from you and give it to Ms. Jones she wanted to share it with the board. Not for approval or anything just to keep them updated on what's going on."
"Why are you so nervous right now?" I ask her ignoring her attempt to leave. "You weren't this nervous when we met at the gala."
"I'm not nervous, I'm just, okay, I am nervous. I've never been to a business meeting and I was a little worried about showing up here for my very first meeting ever with a guy that I, you know."
"Made out with in a car?" I ask before I stand up and walked to the other side of my desk so I'm standing right in front of her. "Oh come on, kids do that crap in their high school parking lots," I said reaching out my hand and taking hers so that I could pull her up to me. She shocked me when she actually put her hand in mine, but judging by the look on her face she shocked herself even more. She was standing right in front of me, close enough that if I leaned in just an inch I would be able to taste her sweet luscious lips again.
"I don't know what's happening here," she said, her voice taking on a dream like quality, "but I feel like my body is responding to you in a way I haven't felt before," f.uck, what the f.uck is wrong with me? I shouldn't be doing this, I can't be doing this. She leans in to kiss me and I move my head so I can kiss her cheek instead.
"Thank you for coming to see me. Be sure to reach out if you have any more questions," I tell her effectively dismissing her.
"Oh, right, okay. Well thank you for meeting with me earlier than scheduled," she said before turning to walk out the door.
"And Melissa, if you need anything else, don't be afraid to ask for it," she gave me that sweet smile and a nod of her head before finally leaving. F.uck me, that's it I definitely have to ask Jeni out, I have got to get this woman out of my head.
