Duncan’s Point of View
“My Lord, it’s time,” Jaden informed, bowing his head, just the way he did every time.
It had been almost a week, and I was still here, caged in this ancient world. No matter how much I denied the fact that my dream had become my reality in a very crooked way. I was in the middle of a war. These lands were in chaos. Above all, I was a part of the Skeleton warrior clan, those people who were never after any good.
No matter how powerful master Falcon was or how nicely they all treated me, it was still hard for me to accept. Waking up early every day and then the rigorous training that I was clueless about and their food! I liked nothing at all here, especially the idea of slaughtering the White Warriors. The White Shadow was the one I admired all my life. How could I keep up with all these?
Standing in the middle of my room, my mind was sunk in all those thoughts when Jaden came up. The lass standing before me was preparing me for the war. My huge new torso was covered with think, metallic armour. She combed my hair with care and made a pony. The cut over my right eyebrow was making me look intimidating. I still couldn’t believe how I ended up here suddenly. What my parents were thinking? And above all, what would I do when I would be facing the White Shadow?
Master Falcon had already made a perfect plan. I would be going to the ground of White Warrior Clan and try to blend in. Apparently, they were unaware of my appearance. My work would be to find out their military information, and then I would be looking for a moment to s*******r White Shadow, the next to be in the line to be the Clan head. The White Warriors would sure be devastated, and that would be our opportunity. Master Falcon would show up with the warriors, and they would gain control of the area by the river. According to him, that was the only way to solve the water problem in our land. It was brutal to kill someone. Couldn’t we just talk things out? Per heaps no!
“Okay!” I nodded as Jaden’s voice reached my ears.
My eyes fell on the maiden again. That was the only good thing that happened to me after coming here. My nights had changed into a pleasurable one, with all these beauties around me to release my stress! A sigh left my mouth as I knew I was going on a dangerous mission, and my only knowledge of this world was based on some stupid tv show that I was obsessed with.
Jaden was still on the doorstep, waiting for me. I turned to take my sword. The mighty sword of the Lord of Skeleton Warrior! How sarcastic! Another sigh made its way. The woman there touched my chest before I could leave and spoke softly, “come back soon, my lord!”
With a smile, I replied, “I will.”
“Let’s go, Jaden,” I order as I walked out of the door.
Bowing his head, he followed me. We walked along the hallway and then left the manor. The stable was just in front of us, and Thunder was waiting there for me. The old memories with him flashed in the back of my mind. I lost control over him, and he was dragging me towards those werewolves. I inhaled deeply, trying to calm my nerves.
Master Falcon walked near me with a bright smile on his face. His eyes were glittering with hope. Only if he knew who I really was. He gently put his hand on my shoulder as he opened his mouth, “Duncan, always remember, no matter what, we believe in you.”
His words were laced with respect and trust. Was I even worthy of their trust? Looking into my eyes, he spoke again, “Take care, Lord Duncan. Remember who you are.”
I couldn’t say a single word in front of this noble warrior. With a fake smile, I managed to nod my head. Jaden came up, holding Thunder’s lash; he waited patiently for me. He was a good lad, and we became close these days. Maybe he was older than real me still; he was close to me and the only reason I survived here all these days. Now he would be left behind. I was the only one heading towards White Warrior Clan.
I turned towards Thunder, praying hard in my mind not to embarrass myself once again. Holding his halter, I put my leg on the stirrup and sat on his back. A loud neigh left his mouth as he jolted a little.
“Take care, my lord,” Jaden smiled.
They all were looking at me with such honour and love. Still, all these felt wrong somehow. They were sending me to kill someone.
“You too,” I faked a smile as I departed.
The route was already given to me. I had to follow the river until the dam, and then I would be going towards north, in the village. That would be my path towards their clan.
I took the lashes, and Thunder was running fast as usual. Leaving our village behind, we took the path through the woods. My heart was pounding as Thunder started to run faster. My mind was still a mess. Hopefully, I wouldn’t be encountering any demon or werewolf or something unnatural. Gulping hard, I tried my best to stay on the back of Thunder. The forest around became thinner. The trees and bushes were dispersed around the valley. Soon I heard the flow of water. The river must be close by.
I pulled the halter to stop my horse. It wasn’t easy. He jumped before standing up on its hind legs with the forelegs off the ground. But I didn’t give up this time. My hands were curled around Thunder’s neck, holding it as if my life depended on it. Thunder slowed down, and after a few jolts, he calmed down. A neigh left his mouth. He seemed to be a little dissatisfied.
“We need to find the river, Thunder,” I sighed, earning another neigh as if he was talking back. Only if I could understand!
He walked steadily, following the sound of the stream, and soon enough, we found the river. Now I had to head north. Everything was great so far. I was about to instruct Thunder with a smile when I realised that I didn’t know which way was north! Just great!
“Thunder! We need to head north! Now how on earth can I find north?” I groaned in frustration, only to realise my new voice was manly. Well, I wasn’t any teenager now.
I tried hard to find which way was north, roaming around the area. Suddenly Thunder started to run again.
“Thunder!” I tried to pull his lashes, but it wasn’t any help.
“Thunder… Stop!” I yelled again, trying my best.
He didn’t stop and kept running. I was too busy to understand where I was going, passing through the trees and bushes. Suddenly thunder slowed down, and I huffed in peace. Then my eyes fell on the enormous white architecture standing tall ahead of me. It was made of stone, blocking the river water. The Dam! He knew the way! He brought me here!
Patting his slender shoulder, I exclaimed, “good job, Thunder. Good job!” He made another noise in reply. Did he understand me? That was totally insane.
I crossed the dam, and soon, a village appeared, just the way Master Falcon had described. Thunder was sauntering. We passed the village market. All the eyes were on me. Their appearance was different. Of course, they could tell easily I was a foreigner. Ignoring their gaze, I travelled past the stores and finally stopped in front of a clothing store. I needed to change my appearance first if I wanted to mend in.
Tying Thunder up with a tree, I bought some clothes and changed into them. Money was never a problem since Master Falcon gave me a big bundle of rubies that they used here for trading. After changing into the clothes, I was all ready to leave for the clan. Caressing Thunder’s head once, I sat on his back again. I could feel the connection building up slowly between us. I had already asked where to go and guided Thunder to the right path. Soon we reached the enormous wall made of stone. The gate was wide open. No one even stopped me at the step, and we freely walked in. my eyes were wide open. The white marble architecture was mesmerising. The entire township was built as a huge castle, and the wall was its first and only protection from the rest of the world. The three towers were standing tall with pride. That red flag with white dove was showing the dignity of the White Warrior Clan. My eyes could hardly believe it was precisely like the one I used to see on the TV! Was it just a coincidence?
