Chapter 5:
||Astrid
A frown settled on my face as I watched Roshan practically rush out of the room without saying a word. What was going on? Shouldn’t he have at least taken me to the man? Was I not supposed to be introduced to him?
It didn’t make sense.
I moved to the window, hoping to catch a glimpse of the man, but just as I got there, I saw Roshan getting into a vehicle and, in a link of an eye, he left the mansion. This was very strange.
I returned to bed and hugged myself as I tried to make sense of the situation, but nothing came into my head. Nothing aside from the huge guilt that sat on my mind after what I did with all three of them last night. What was I thinking? How could I have given myself to three strangers just because my wolf recognized my mate in them?
What would they even think of me?
What was even more annoying was the fact that I enjoyed every moment of it. Just thinking about it again sent a tremor of pleasure through my body, despite the intensive scrubbing I gave myself in the bathroom.
“Oh, Astrid!” I hissed, slapping a hand on my face. I had to clear my head. Staying locked up in the room wasn’t going to help. I had to go out there and get the answers I needed.
I got off bed and began to head out of the room. I wasn’t sure how I would find my room, but it was worth a trial and better than staying locked up there. But the second I pushed the door open, I came face to face with Sienna.
“My lady,” she said with her broad smile. “Did you have a good night?”
My cheeks burned with embarrassment as I knew well what she spoke of. Rather than respond, I opted to change the topic instead. “Hmm… yeah… can you please lead me to my room?”
“Sure. Come with me,” she beamed, leading the way to my room. This time, I made sure to take the direction in my head.
When we got in, I quickly changed into a casual dress and packed my hair into a tight bun.
“My lady, are you going somewhere?
I dropped my hands from my hair and nodded at her. “Yes… I would prefer to have my breakfast in the dining room.” My plan was simple. Since no one wanted to introduce me to the family, I would just do it myself.
“That will be wonderful!” Sienna exclaimed, clapping her hands. “I will give you a tour of the mansion. Please come with me.”
I offered her a smile that didn’t reach my heart and, together, we went down. The dining space was a very large hall, with a chandelier hanging at the center of the ceiling. For the chairs, it was just as I expected. A long table with more than a dozen chairs arranged along the perimeter.
“It seems I am the first to get here,” I said, turning my attention to Sienna. There was no one in the room except us.
“Yes, we—” she began to speak, but her words didn’t finish leaving her mouth as she got interrupted by a deep voice.
“A new lady in the mansion, beautiful.”
Sienna and I, turned abruptly to the voice, only to find a middle-aged man with eyes that felt familiar, yet I hadn’t seen him before. He was dressed in a long robe that reached his ankles, paired with riding pants and a white shirt that had its upper buttons opened, leaving his chest exposed.
“Your Highness,” Sienna said, bowing before the strange man.
He barely spared her a glance as his eyes remained fixed on me, drilling holes into my face. He began to close the distance between us, and my heart jumped in my chest. I was like a deer under the headlights of an oncoming vehicle. I didn’t know what to do.
“You are new here, aren’t you?” He growled, his eyes moving all over my body in such a manner that made my skin crawl.
“Your Highness, she is—”
“Leave us.” He growled at the poor girl before she could finish. She looked at me and I saw the fear in her eyes, but she didn’t have a choice. She bowed once more and left the room.
As the door closed, I felt cold air wash over my body, and I gulped. “I am sorry for her behavior. I should have—”
In a blink of an eye, his arms had wrapped around my waist, pulling me forcefully towards him. It was at this point my heart started racing in panic.
“What are you doing? Who are you?” I squeaked, trying to push him away, but my effort only excited him further as I felt something begin to grow against my lower abdomen.
“I like you already… you are waking my dead members… hmm…” he moaned against my ears and my stomach turned in disgust.
“Release me instantly, or I will call the guards!” I warned, pushing him away, but he refused to bulge, even holding me tighter.
“I am King Lothaire and you, beautiful one, are coming with me,” he snickered as he took my hand and began pulling me along with him.
“Please let me go, or I swear I will call the guards on you!” I yelled, as it became clear to me that his intentions were sinister, but he threw his head back and a dark chuckle left his lips.
“Didn’t you hear what I said, new girl?” His hold on me tightened as his eyes began to glow with lust. “I am the king around here and no one can stop me…”
Tears filled my eyes, and I started struggling to breathe. This was a nightmare.
“Now come with me… let’s go have some fun. Let me show you that this old man still has it.”
