CHAPTER SEVENThe Earl raised his head. “How can you make me feel like this?” he asked. Then he was kissing her again, kissing her wildly, possessively, passionately as if he was afraid of losing her. She felt as if her whole body melted into his. She was part of him and they were one person. She felt as if he was carrying her up into the sky. The stars were twinkling in their hearts and she had reached Heaven. As the Earl’s lips finally released hers once again, Melva sighed, “I love you, I love you. I know it’s wrong – but I cannot help myself.” There was a rapture in her voice that he had not heard before. “I love you too,” he said simply. Melva hid her face against his shoulder. “It is very wrong and wicked of us,” she murmured. “But it’s so wonderful, so utterly marvellous.
