GABRIEL
I smiled at the judge, as he made his way out of the hall, nodding my head at the driver who stood just outside the courthouse, with the car open and ready-I assumed. For the press's sake, I minimized the number of vehicles and security present at the venue. At least in their eyes, because at every point, I had people watching and waiting. Just low-key.
"Gabriel..!" The voice I really didn't want to hear, called, causing me to turn around. I cleared my throat as I looked at Ariana's father, who had a broad smile on his face. Hah! Why wouldn't the damn p***y of a man smile? He had literally just won a lottery for both his family and business. He had snagged himself, Gabriel Fernandez, as an in-law.
"What?" I asked, raising a brow as I placed one hand in my pocket, while the other was positioned in front of me. Victor Livingston looked taken aback by the tone of my voice, but ignored it and squared his shoulders, stopping in front of me, with just a couple of feet between us.
"I wanted to say thank you for your kindness where my family is concerned. You are what a son-in-law should be." he said, like he had just given the speech of the century. I almost laughed then, taking one step forward.
"I see.." I told him, allowing myself to really gaze at his face. It was easy to see that Ariana got her looks from him. And boy did she get every good feature. "I mean, it's a pleasure," I told him, and removed my gaze from him, looking towards where I knew Arianna was standing. God...she made a beautiful bride.
"About my daughter, Na_" I didn't let him finish, before I interrupted him with a stare. I knew what he wanted to say. I could see it in is eyes, but hell if I was going to accept any kind of apology!
"I'm sure you know how to play your cards well, Victor. Try to deal wisely." I warned him, making him fully aware that i wasn't interested in whatever he had to say about that b-. Hell!
Victor swallowed visibly. "Uhmm... I'll take my leave now." he said, and was soon walking away, towards where his wife stood with Ariana. We were almost done with the sham of a wedding, and I couldn't wait to be on my way home. For a moment, I couldn't help the question that brushed past my mind.
What the hell was I getting myself into?
"Gabriel..." speak of the devil, and she appeared. Drunk as hell.
I quickly swung around to see Natalie swaying on her feet as she wobbled her way towards me. How had she gotten in? I had specifically asked that no one let her in! "What the f**k are you doing here, Natalie?!" I hissed, grabbing hold of her hand before she could even touch me.
Thankfully, the press were not allowed into the courthouse, and were stationed a bit farther down the road, waiting for I and Ariana to make an appearance.
"I know I cheated, but you didn't need to marry her!" Natalie screamed, swinging the hand with the bottle towards me. But before she could do whatever she had intended to do, her father came forward and pulled her away.
"I thought I gave simple enough instructions!" I hissed at the security guard who was running in a full minute after Natalie had barged in.
"I'm really sorry, Sir. She forced her way in."
"That's enough!" Victor hissed, pulling his crying daughter away, while giving me an apologetic look. I didn't want to think of the disaster that would have ensued, if it had been a church marriage.
Anger surged through me as I looked at the woman I had been in a relationship with for the past three years. How could she? "I think we are done here." I stated coldly, and simply walked over to Ariana who just stood to the side with her arms folded, and her eyes wide with fear. "Let's go." I said, grabbing her by the arm and pulling her towards me. She didn't resist.
"Araina, please don't go with him. I can't bear it!" Natalie cried, her eyes glassy, and her face wet from tears. I heard Araina mutter something under her breath, and step closer to me as I led her away, and towards the entrance.
"Let's go."Ariana said. This time, loud enough for me to hear what she had to say.
ARIANA
I was married. I had gone and married Gabriel Fernadez.
I had become Ariana Fernadez. Damn. I needed time alone, to digest my new reality which my brain was having difficulty accepting. I mean, it was by name only. A punishment. A sacrifice. But still..
I hadn't seen a wedding as hasty as what I had just been involved in. Rused vows. Rushed signing. Rushed everything. At that rate, I was glad we could go.
But that thought was short-lived as Natalie came barging into the court, looking like she had just been involved in a wreck.
I couldn't believe that Natalie had somehow found her way into the court, and tried to make a scene. My heart was pounding. My ears were ringing. From both anger and fear. I hadn't been surprised when i had found out that she wasn't allowed near the venue, so how she had managed to get in was beyond me. I wanted to cry, but in just a few seconds, we were going to be faced with an influx of paparazzi, and I needed to get my act right.
"Are you okay?" Gabriel suddenly asked from his position next to me. I could still hear my sister scream my name in the background, but her voice was fading a bit, as my father probably dragged her deeper into the building.
I nodded, taking a dep breath, before answering. "I'm fine." I lied easily, through a heavy chest and clogged throat.
The hand which had been firmly wrapped around my arm dropped to my wrist, and for the first time I was aware of just how warm, from, and soft, Gabriel Fernandez's hand felt against mine, all at the same time. My lips parted slightly as I inhaled.
Gabriel didn't seem to notice, or feel the way I felt, because he cleared his throat and started to move, taking me with him. "Good, because we have to kiss for the camera, before getting into the car." he said in a clean voice, while my whole world seemed to slam to a stop at those words.
"What?" I hadn't even finished getting the word out of my shocked lips, before Gabriel was twirling me around, and somehow slipping his other hand around my waist to pull me closer and press me to him. And then his lips crashed onto mine...
