Silence. A dead silence filled the office, as none of us knew what to say after hearing those words. Even my wolf was speechless in my head and the sadness he suddenly felt washed over me in waves. I felt his pain and uncertainty. And instantly, I felt the same. What if the father tried to take our baby girl from us? What if she actually allowed it?
“What did you say?” Peter’s shaky voice finally filled the room, and the silence was broken.
