After they had finally left, a feeling of relief filled the room, giving me a short time to think.
What would I do next? If I ran away, would they hunt me down?
Naturally, my eyes looked around the room, trying to find anything that could help me escape. I thought the bathroom was the door Rockan had gone through since I could hear water running in the distance.
The room had just one light on, and the curtains were closed. Standing up, I slowly moved towards the curtains, hoping there might be a window with a balcony I could jump from.
As I got closer to the curtains, I felt both afraid and determined. If I could find a way out of here, maybe I could get away from the pack and start a new life, away from their threat.
Carefully, I grabbed the edge of the curtain, took a deep breath, and pulled it aside. I waited anxiously, looking out the window, searching for a way to escape.
As I pulled the curtain aside, I came in contact with the hard wall. There was a large frame hanging on it, and I had accidentally bumped it, causing it to shake momentarily.
"No, no, no," I whispered anxiously, raising my hand as if to plead with the frame not to fall.
Fortunately, the frame managed to regain its balance and stayed securely in place on the wall, the shaking subsiding.
I let out a quiet sigh of relief, grateful that the disturbance had not dislodged the frame. The last thing I needed was for it to crash to the floor and draw unwanted attention.
“Thank goodness,” I breathed out.
Cautiously, I adjusted the curtains and saw the window then I peered out the window, scanning the area beyond for any signs of movement or indication that someone had heard the brief commotion.
The view from the window was limited, but the area outside appeared quiet and undisturbed. Still, I knew I had to be vigilant and act quickly, in case my reprieve was short-lived.
Glancing back into the dimly lit room, I searched for any other potential obstacles or means of escape. Time was of the essence, and I needed to carefully consider my next move before my window of opportunity closed.
Then my eyes met with the frame again.
As I examined the frame more closely, I was shocked to see that it contained the actual head of a lion! The lion's golden eyes were fixated on me, its regal features unmistakable.
"Oh my goodness, that's a real lion!" I exclaimed, covering my mouth with my hands, my eyebrows raised in alarm. I couldn't believe what I was seeing - how was this possible?
The lion's powerful presence radiated through the ornate frame, making the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Its piercing gaze seemed to bore into me as if sizing me up.
I felt a surge of primal fear, realising that I was in the presence of a true apex predator, even if it was confined within the boundaries of the frame.
Keeping my eyes locked on the lion, I slowly backed away, not daring to turn my back on it.
“He must have killed it,” I gasped out. It was a bigger reason to run away.
The thought of my head being hung in that same wall crossed my mind and I shivered in fear.
So I rushed to the window I just found, adrenaline rushing through my veins as I dragged the glass door separating me from the outside world.
I pulled on the knob and my heart sank inside my belly when I found out that it was locked.
“f**k!” I cussed but quickly shut my mouth with my palm slapping against my lips. He knew what he was doing to have locked the entrances and exits.
Sighing out in frustration, I settled on the small stool that stood in front of a huge mirror with a dressing table.
My gown was almost a nuisance as it was too heavy to move around comfortably. Reaching for the back zip, I released myself from the suffocating feeling as the zipper went down. I stared at my reflection in the mirror and noticed my makeup was already ruined from all the crying.
Was this truly my new life?
They finally got rid of me and expected me to meet my demise here.
I noticed a bottle of water on the table and in that instant my throat became dry. Not thinking any further about it, I grabbed it, opened it, and gulped it down my throat in one drink.
“s**t!” I seemed to find myself always cussing out at every little moment.
It wasn’t water, it was far from anything I had ever tasted, it was hot and sour at the same time and it burned down my throat. A part of me hoped it was poison so that I wouldn’t have to live to see tomorrow.
But I knew it was alcohol. The smell made me realize what it was.
“What have you done?!” I froze on the spot when I heard Alpha Rockan’s voice boom from behind me.
He was already too late, the drink was already having its effect and I felt my head getting woozy.
“Alpha!” I said before belching out gas from taking too much alcohol at once.
“Do you want to kill yourself?” He rushed to me, dragging the bottle away from my grip in an attempt to stop me from drinking more.
“I just had a little,” I giggled, rising to my feet.
He had just walked out of the bathroom but he still had his mask on. However, I noticed how he was shirtless and just had a towel hanging carelessly around his waist. Water dripped down his masculine body, emphasising his defined abs and biceps as he flexed his arm unconsciously.
“You’re drunk little mate,” he pointed down at me but everything he did was sexy.
“And you are really hot!” I shrieked shamelessly, pushing myself forward to him.
