"The McKenzie corporation just announced that the current CEO will be stepping down for the heir which we already know, Lincoln McKenzie to take over the company but speculations begins as this hot billionaire is still single.."
Annoyed, Madam Claire glanced at the TV screen displaying their newly acquired properties. Her fingers caressed the cat beside her.
Madam Claire is his grandmother, after her husband passed away, she had moved in with them. She sighed, "My grandson is so stubborn, taking over the company will be so hard for him if he refuses to get married."
Zachary lazily glanced at the TV screen and went back to his phone.
As if sensing the woman's dissatisfaction, Zachary dropped his phone and smiled at her. "He's still young grandma, he will settle down when he meets the right one."
The woman helplessly look at him. "He's 27 for God's sake, how in the world is that being young huh."
As she spoke, she picked up the cat and rubbed his head fondly. "And you too Zachary, instead of spending your inheritance on women and traveling, it's high time you settle down."
A glint of aloofness flashed through his bright blue eyes."Grandma, I don't want to get married now and besides my older brother is still single. It will be a trending topic if I get married first."
Madam Claire rolled her eyes and make a cross sign. "I don't know how I offended the world, your brother doesn't like getting involved with women and you, you sleep around but wouldn't settle down. I need grandkids."
"Grandma, you still have many years ahead, surely you will get them soon but I can't just settle down with anyone."He said.
She gave him a mocking smile. ", But you can sleep around with anyone."
Just as Zachary was about to leave the living room, his grandmother's voice stopped him.
"You'll be getting married in a few days, your grandfather and I have decided that it's high time you settle down."
Hearing this words, his steps falter and he turned back. "Grandma, you can't expect me to get married now and to just anyone."
Madam Claire voice lowered and her fists clenched in anger. "If you haven't seen the news, you have been trending a lot these days as photos of you coming out of the mall with different ladies have created some scenarios."
Zachary kept mute. He knew better than to argue with her. He ran his hand through his hair and groaned. "Fine Grandma, I'll introduce someone to you in a few days."
His Grandma chuckled and waved her hand at him, her fingers caressing the cat's fur. "And you think I'll accept any girl that you introduce to me. You clearly have bad taste so I already have someone in mind for you."
Zachary froze. His body stiffened and he then raised his hands in exasperation, "Grandma, you can't do this to me, I cannot spend the rest of my life with someone that I don't know."He argued.
"Really! But you can spend a fortune on women you don't know right?"She refuted.
Zachary walked back and took the seat beside her, he held her hand and looked up at her. "Grandma, you have to reconsider, I don't want to..
She raised her hand and cut him off. "I found a good girl for you Zachary, She's a perfect match for you. At first I wanted to pair her up with Lincoln but I know that hot headed boy won't agree."She slowly shook her head.
Zachary raised a brow and stood up from the couch. "And you think that I'll agree to it Grandma."
She went back to pet the meowing cat, coaxing it in her arms. "You will agree because if you don't, I'll have all of your accounts frozen and your grand luxurious life will be held on hold."She threatened.
"Grandma, you can't do that to me, I won't marry."He groaned out in desperation but a thought crossed his mind.
"Is she pretty huh, I could make an exception if she's pretty."He asked.
Madam Claire picked her phone and scrolled through it. She clicked on the gallery and pulled up a photo.
Zachary walked over and leaned closer, a gasp escaped his lips and he frowned. "She's so ugly with dark skin and looks fat, dirty and her hair looks so bushy."
Madam Claire turned off her phone and dropped it back on the couch. "I heard she also has a bit of walking issue which makes her the perfect wife for you."
"Grandma, I won't be married to a crippled ugly woman, there are a lot of beautiful girls, why can't you pick one of them."He threw his hands in frustration and paced around the living room.
"You don't have a choice...
"Because I haven't worked like Lincoln so is this a new way of punishing me."
The cat meowed softly and Madam Claire dropped her on the floor. "Your wedding will be in two weeks time and I hope you can be matured enough for once in your life."She cautioned before leaving him alone in the living room.
Zachary rubbed his head in frustration, the door opened and his elder brother, Lincoln stepped in dressed in a well tailored suit and carried a brief case.
"You are a bit early Lincoln."Zachary greeted.
Lincoln walked coldly forward, his aura was a bit overwhelming. "I forgot some documents, so I had to come and get them."He replied as he climbed the stairs.
Zachary stood from the couch and followed him upstairs. "Brother, have you seen what grandma has done now. She arranged a local ugly girl for me to marry." He complained but Lincoln hurried up the stairs looking a bit bored by the conversation.
Lincoln had always been the cold and reserved kid who looked unapproachable while Zachary could be called the live of the party. He's always so vibrant and outspoken.
"Lincoln, grandma always listen to you, can you tell her to forget about this marriage issue for a bit."He said.
Lincoln didn't seem to care as he walked into his room and slammed the door shut. Most might find Lincoln's behavior weird but he and Zachary were not always in good terms.
They had brotherly squabbles now and then, most times they refused to reconcile.
Lincoln disappeared into his room and headed for the cabinet. He had a bad feeling over Zachary's word. His Grandma had always wanted him to get married and take over the company but now she's redirecting the attention at Zachary's.
He shook off the unsettling feelings, grabbed the files he needed and left the room.
