The Eagle's Mate

Chapter 3

"Kalani "

I'm Kalani Matheson Sensmeier, I'm twenty-six years old. I owned a large construction company. I'm also the Principle at the school on our reservation. My father is the leader of our tribe. My mother is pushing me into a arrange marriage. I haven't found my soulmate yet. I believe in Soulmates, so does our tribe. My mother said that since I'm twenty-six that my Soulmate is either dead or has mated with someone else. I saved myself for her. I haven't given up on finding her yet.

Yesterday in the grocery store, I saw my soulmate. She stopped in the middle of the aisle. When she was turning around to look at me. I jump into an aisle, I don't know why I did that. She said something to the two girls that were with her.

One looked to be fifteen or sixteen. The little girl looks to be six or seven. I wonder if she's my Soulmate's daughter. But she looks too young to have a child that age. I have to find out more about her. I wanted to know where she was living.

My Soulmate is beautiful, the most beautiful woman in the world. She looks to be 5'8, and about 130 pounds beautiful blue eyes, long light brown hair. Beautiful light golden brown skin. She looks like a golden barbie doll.

She was wearing a pair of white shorts, and a pink tank top. Her lips are a beautiful soft pink color. I wanted to walk over to her and attack her lips with mine right then. She is sexy as hell.

Today I stop by the pet store to pick up some birdseed for my mother's cockatoo. When I felt her, I turned around looking for her. She was standing in the middle of the aisle, staring at me. We just stood there staring at each other. It felt like no one else was there but us.

The other girl that was with her started snapping her fingers in my Mate's face. She said something to the girl pointing at the cart. We both looked at each other one more time before walking away.

I decided today is the day that I will find out more about her. So I walk to my car, take off my clothes, and shifted into my Bald Eagle. I'm a shapeshifter, I can't take shapes of different things. I can only shift into my Bald Eagle.

Once I had shifted, I flew out of my car window. Circling over the store until she comes out. The little girl is holding my Soulmate's hand. I flew over them as they are loading their items into a Suv. She drives out to Martin Brown, who sells horses. His son Carlton come out with Martin to help them.

My mate and the other girls get out of the SUV. The little girl grabs my mate's hand again. Carlton keep walking close to her, I could see that he was flirting with her. He keeps touching her hands when he was talking to her. She keeps stepping back from him. Not being rude, but letting him know he's invading her space.

 "That's right princess let him know your mine,"   I was thinking

The young girl walks away looking at a horse. But walks back over to my mate takes her hand again. I don't care if she is her daughter. I still want her. My mother might not be happy about it. But I want her, she's mine.

They drove off,  away from the city, toward Big Claw Mountain Ranch. I had put a bid in for this ranch, I was outbid. I always wondered beat me.

My Soulmate stops, then she starts looking toward the woods like she's looking for something. I know she couldn't possibly feel me, she's human. But she is acting like she can feel our mating bond.

I land on a tree limb close to her house. I want to find out if she has a husband or boyfriend. About an hour or so later I hear a truck coming down her driveway. It's that asshole Carlton, he's delivering her horses and hay 

All three of them met him at the barn. Carlton is laughing loud. "I have never liked him, now I hate him for sure. Yep, I hate him." I was thinking

After he left they lead three horses out of the barn. She picks up the little girl, sitting her on a black Arabian horse. The other girl was already on a black and white Arabian horse. Then my mate climb on hers. She's riding a beautiful white Mustang.

I could hear the sound of laughter coming from them as they were riding. All three of them seem to be happy and beautiful.

My Soulmate stops, looking toward the tree that I'm in. I swear if I did not know better, I would believe that she knows I'm here.

About an hour or so later they rode back to the barn, putting their horses up. I heard them laughing while they were feeding the horses. They walk into the house after that came out of the barn.

"Nia"

I kept having a strange feeling every since this morning that someone is following me. I looked in the rearview mirror while I was driving. But no one was behind me or they turned off going in a different direction. When we arrived home I felt something different in the air around the house. Maybe it's just my imagination.

I showered, put my pajamas on after dinner. I was brushing my hair, looking out my window. When I saw a tree limb move. I watch it for a while, I never did see anything. I figured it was an owl. After a little while curiosity got the best of me. So I walk back over to my window, looking out one last time. The limb was moving again, but I still feel like someone is watching me. But I didn't see anyone. "Why haven't my Soulmate introduce himself to me. I am sure that was him in the pet store." I was thinking as I drift off to sleep

"Kalani"

I was sitting in the tree watching her brush her beautiful hair. She was looking out her bedroom window. I know for sure she saw me and could feel me. I can feel our bond getting stronger. I have never heard of a shifter and human bond developing so fast. But, I am not complaining about it. I had planned on staying there all night. Then I remembered the dinner party my mother was having tonight. I was already late and had to leave my princess. I was dreading that I have to leave her.

But I had promised my mother that I would attend it.  So I flew over my princess's house one last time. "Sleep well princess, I will see you tomorrow," I am thinking as I flew away.

When I reach my house, I flew into my bedroom window.  Then I shift into my human form.  I changed into a black suit and white shirt before heading downstairs. I could feel myself smiling hard.

When I walk into the dining room my parents and my brother Kairav are already sitting at the table. But they weren't alone. Ryan, his wife Elizabeth, and their daughter Catherine.

Catherine has been chasing after me since we were sixteen. I look over at my mother giving her the evil eye. I knew this was all her doing. My parents know how much I dislike that girl.

"Kalani, come sit beside me,"  Catherine said batting her eyes at me. As I walked into the room, walking to the opposite end of the table. I didn't want to sit anywhere near her.

My father and Kairav are laughing. While my mother rolls her eyes at me.

"Son, I have been talking to Ryan about you and Catherine getting married,"  mother said smiling at me

"Mother, I told you I will not marry her. She's not my Soulmate, I will not marry her. I haven't changed my mind. Besides I have already found my Soulmate."  I said looking at my mother

"Kalani, you know I'm your Soulmate,"  Catherine said walking over to me. Rubbing her body against me

"No Catherine your not,"  I tell her, as I push her off me. Looking at my brother Kairav, he is sitting over there still laughing. He almost fell out of the chair

"Where is your mate, why is she not here?"  Mother asks looking around the room, with her hands up in the air.

"You will meet her soon, mother. As for you, Catherine, I will never marry you." I said looking at her shaking my head.

"I am your Soulmate Kalani. Whether you like it or not."  Catherine said looking at me winking. 

I shook my head, trying to get that thought out of my head. "Only in your dreams, my nightmares. Now if you all will excuse me I have somewhere to be." I said getting up from the table.

"Son, when will you be back?"  My mother asks looking at me

I nod my head at my father, He nods back and smiles."I will be back when I get back. "  I said walking out. I shift, flew back to the pet store to get my car.
