Escape Plan
Annabella POV
“Yes, babe, we are best friends because unlike the step-demons, I actually love you and care about your well-being.” She drops her hand. “Now let's go party!” I can't help but laugh.
“Hannah, I promise you, I will go to every party with you in college. But for the next three days, I want to keep my head down and not draw attention to myself with the step-demons.” Hannah practically growls. Like literally.
“I hate seeing you submit to that awful woman.”
“Me too Han. But Monday it will finally be over.”
“Has she still not noticed that you're moving out?” She asks me smiling. For the last two weeks, I have slowly been boxing up my possessions and giving them to Hannah. I don’t have very many and pretty much everything I own that’s nice is already at Hannah’s so no one at home takes it from me. After a while I had saved up enough to buy myself a nice car, which sits at Hannah’s. Her parents know my situation and don’t question it when I drop things off.
“Nope. She doesn’t think I will actually leave and they seem to believe if they step in my room they’ll die, so no one has noticed a thing. All that’s left now is a single duffle bag with enough clothes to get me to Monday and my toiletries.”
“And no one will be home Monday afternoon during our big getaway?” She asks me.
“Shouldn’t be. Sarah is going out with her other bitchy friends, the twins will be out partying as usual, and Austin is always with his college friends so we should be good.”
“Perfect!” She hoots.
“So let's just let the weekend pass quietly okay?” I ask her, pleading with my eyes. She hates my step family, especially Sarah. Way more than even I do.
“Fine,” she concedes, “let me drive you home.” I agree and we hop into her red mustang. We pass the ten minute ride in a comfortable silence.
“Thanks, see you Monday, Han,” I whisper hopping out of the car.
“I’ll be here at noon sharp. Be ready,” she replies before blowing me a kiss and heading home.
