Living modestly costs people their reputation. Zayn in When Life Takes A Turn is no exception. People start to mock, humiliate, and bully him everywhere he goes. His seemingly happy marriage with Faye Carter, the most beautiful daughter of the Carters, doesn’t save his life, either.
When we read the first chapter of When Life Takes A Turn novel, we will know that Zayn becomes the live-in son-in-law for Faye’s Carter family. In When Life Takes A Turn, the Carters are well-known for their highly-developed fashion business. Yet, Zayn is so miserable that everything he does seems disgusting to the Carters.
The Carters look down on Zayn, and Faye’s mother locks Zayn inside their house by doing endless housework. Plus, they never allow Zayn to attend business meetings with them. In addition, the Carters arrange for Mr. Wilson to marry Faye and take her away from Zayn, the good-for-nothing son-in-law.

Part 3: Some Analysis Of When Life Takes A Turn Novel
One of the highlights I find in When Life Takes A Turn novel is that this novel progresses slowly. Flashbacks are rare, and I don’t see any character dialogues in the flashbacks happening in some of the novel’s introductory chapters. It shows the author wants readers to think wealthy people think about their future.
Indeed, the future is everything to the upper classes. The attitudes are things that differentiate them. In When Life Takes A Turn novel, we know the Carters and the Larsons as two super-wealthy families. Yet, they have different ways to look at what life has to offer.
The Carters are traditional wealthy families who value their reputations. So, they try their best to preserve their wealth and ensure their offspring acknowledge them. I’m guessing their fashion businesses have some elements that accentuate their preference for proven traditions and classic elegance.
Faye Carter resembles a meek and obedient youngest daughter in the Carters. In When Life Takes A Turn novel, I can see her loving attitude even when she ditches Zayn “the good-for-nothing husband” Larson. She takes time to understand the situation and not just divorce her good-for-nothing husband out of being ashamed of his seemingly poor economic conditions.
When we continue reading When Life Takes A Turn, we will see many character development portions. Faye doesn’t only reconsider her decision to divorce Zayn. Many other wealthy people, including Jordan, start to respect Zayn. Such scenes don’t only make this novel’s story in line with the title. It also makes this novel one of the best novels in its genre.
Part 4: An Alternative Book To When Life Takes A Turn
“Economically growing from zero and hero” is the primary theme I see in When Life Takes A Turn. This urban romance novel also has the good-for-nothing live-in son-in-law as the male MC, along with his disappointed wife. So, have you wondered if you would find a similar book on the Dreame platform?
