What if magic and shifters collide in one plot? Interesting right? This book, Wolf Marked, is giving me the vibe of The Originals and Legacies. Well, if you know that tv series I’m talking about then you’ll get how reading Wolf Marked exactly feels.

Wolf Marked is the book one of the wolf bound magic side series. This is written by Veronica Douglas and has earned lots of positive reviews from fans. Basically, the title suggests that this book is going to draw us to the world of the werewolves, but it’s not just that. Wolf Marked transports its readers to a world of werewolves, sorcerers, magic, and even zombies.

So, seeing the premise, I assumed that this book is going to be interesting. Is this worth picking for? Let’s then find out.

Wolf Marked was crafted with two trending elements of fantasy fiction – magic and werewolf. People love reading fantasy romance stories because it’s fun, because of the characters, actions in it, and of its amazing world building too. Well, in the Wolf Marked we are given here a complete package, of a great plot, characters and world building.

Wolf Marked tells the story of a small town girl, being hunted down by a werewolves who happens to have a savior who is a sworn enemy of her family.

Part 1: Plot Summary of Wolf Marked

Wolf Marked Plot

In Wolf Marked, Savannah was an ordinary teenage girl up until a point when she was suddenly attacked by two strangers who had claws- werewolves. Savannah flees the city in fear and confusion, looking for safety with a family she has never met.

It so happens that this family were sorcerers. Savannah must do everything to survive in a world filled with spellcasters, zombies, werewolves, and who knows what else. She also needs to identify her pursuers.

Meanwhile, Jaxson Luxent, the handsome alpha of Chicago pack is Savannah’s means of protection. However, things change when Savannah learns that she has family in Magic Side, the hidden supernatural city within Chicago.

She is a member of the sorcerer LaSalle family, sworn adversaries of Jaxson’s pack. As she deals with the rogue wolves and the hostility of the neighborhood wolves who want her head for having killed one of their own, Savannah must now learn to handle her newfound magic.

Along with that, she’s also trapped in an intense passion

that exists between her and Jaxson, which none of them wants yet none of them can stop.

The Werewolf Pack

The structuring and characterization of the werewolf pack which Jaxson’s is associated with had a bunch of negative comments. Really, the werewolves in the pack here are unlike the other werewolf books I read.

There are times when the packs are annoying, and their systems are unreasonable, sometimes not moral, but the thing when these werewolves are presented as ripped off short sexy male wolves makes your heart love and hate them.

Overall, for me, this characterization of the pack is not an issue to me, what rather interests me is how the love and hate relationship of Savannah and Jaxxsons will end.

Part 2: Main Protagonists of Wolf Marked

 Wolf Marked Savannah And Jaxsons

Savannah

Savanah of Wolf Marked is at first introduced as a weak female lead who is being hunted down by an unknown predator. Yet later on she began to learn her power and so her character was developed too as the plot goes further. Her characterization was interesting, though she wasn’t striking at first, but the plot’s premise carried her.

Jaxsons

Jaxsons of Wolf Marked association to his pack was at first made him the bad guy. At first he doesn’t care about Savannah, but the sexual tension between them carried his unlikeable personality. I’m hoping to see his redemption in the latter chapters.

Part 3: The World Building of Wolf Marked

Wolf Marked is a world of magic and fangs, and I think this is what makes this book striking.

At first glance reading the premise that this would include some magic plus with its incredible cover, Wolf Marked had my attention. Wolf Marked is a good story with rich world building.

It was like the novel is transporting you to a different world. I love the concepts of the landscapes presented in the plot like that magical city on an island called Magic Side.

Yes, it makes the readers crave for more, yet however at some point there are hanging unresolved stuffs in the plot. Wolf Marked gives us a world of mystery and danger.

This book left me wanting more answers which I hope could be resolved in the next series.

Part 4: Review of The Wolf Marked

Wolf Marked Book Cover

The basic premise of Wolf Marked revolves around Savannah being hunted, escaping, abducted, and killing a wolf for self defense, yet the pack demands she’ll have to be punished.

Here we are presented with a plot that looks like a family feud between wolves and witches, and Savannah despite not knowing her witch heritage and magic at first was pushed to fight with Jaxxons.

Yeah, I admire the author for having such talent of incorporating such sexual tension and passion in between Savannah and Jaxxons despite that they were really enemies. Placing that chemistry and feelings in between the characters with an “enemy background” is such a tough job, yet she did it very well.

We as readers felt the thrill and passion in between Jaxxsons and Savannah despite their conflicts. Wolf Marked started out so great. It has a lots of action scenes, mystery and twist.

I think the two strong factors why this book is charming is the characterization and world building that though we are presented a simple enemies to lovers plot, yet this book, Wolf Marked still captivates the readers.

Part 5: Conclusion of Wolf Marked

Wolf Marked is an enemy to lovers romance books that has a strong conflict between the two main protagonists, which at first would make the readers think that it’s impossible for them to fall in love. The love story side was like Romeo and Juliet vibes with actions and magic, yet all was delivered well that the chemistry of the two characters was felt.

I think these factors make the novel worth picking, and yeah, this is a great reading suggestion for young adult readers especially those who are fans of shifter and magic.
