Who hasn’t heard of Outlander? Well, I guess you are familiar with the Outlander tv series, which was based on Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander: A Novel. History. Romance. Fantasy and action. Outlander: A Novel comes with lots of entertaining promises, no doubt this book has been a best seller and was later on adapted into a tv series.
In Outlander: A Novel, Claire Randall, a nurse from 1945, was transported to 1743, where she finds herself thrust into a hostile environment that placed her life in danger. Claire’s heart is torn when she is forced to marry Jamie, a gallant and charming young Scottish warrior.
Romance, science fiction, history, and adventure are all woven together into one epic plot in Outlander: A Novel.

Part 1: Plot Summary of Outlander: A Novel
In Outlander: A Novel, Claire is a contented wife. She is traveling with her husband to Scotland where they are taking in the culture and enjoying some much-needed alone time. They see a group of women performing a ritual at a nearby stone circle one morning.
Claire returns to the circle later. Claire is suddenly transported to the year 1743 for no apparent cause and without any prior notice. James Fraser, a man that she meets there, is as complicated as their relationship turns out to be. Although Claire never gives up attempting to return home, the universe of the past and the present is gradually starting to consume her.
She must now choose between remaining loyal to a man she might never see again and accepting the fact that she will spend the rest of her life with this intriguing man who has grown to be her strongest defender.

Part 2: Plot Review of Outlander: A Novel
What if you were transported back to another time? Who will you choose? The man in your present? Or the man in your past? I love the premise of Outlander: A Novel. It evokes lots of curiosity and emotions in me as a reader.
I love time travel stories but I usually encounter such concepts in science fiction stories. I didn’t know Outlander: A Novel will come with a time travel plot concept mixed with history and romance. This is so creative!
Getting through the premise of Outlander: A Novel I was already hooked even though I haven’t yet checked out its tv series version.
Another thing that keeps me intrigued about the plot of Outlander: A Novel is that this shows us how women and society had been during the war era. Outlander: A Novel contains a wealth of historical data such as the American colonies and the Revolution as well as the Bonnie Prince Charlie revolt. There’s more to it than just romance.
It shows medical information, the awful foods Scottish people consumed, and the reality of what people during the war would have endured. Although I couldn’t assure you that the events here were accurate, this is fiction anyway, but Outlander: A Novel showed us how women were treated before and Claire’s character showed us how a woman in such a violent environment thrives.
Part 3: Main Protagonists of Outlander: A Novel
Claire Randall
Claire Randall is the female lead of Outlander: A Novel. I was waiting to see much more of her nurse skill to put most in use at times she needs it.
I like Claire from Outlander: A Novel because despite the fact that it would have been practically impossible, she was fairly loyal to her husband. Claire’s character showed us a glimpse of what life may have been like for women in that era.
They weren’t quite the Dark Ages, but they were a long way from contemporary women’s rights. This was a time of mob mentality and witch burnings. Imagine going back in time, knowing what we know now, remembering what happened in history, and being utterly terrified to be a woman thus making you wholly dependent on the men you are with.
Good thing Claire met Jaime. The timeline of all of this does not exactly encourage her to embrace her fate and abandon her entire existence prior to Scotland. Claire has a lot on her plate and she just did the best she could.
Jaime Fraser
Jaime of Outlander: The Novel is the badass, the heartbreaker, and the hero. His character here in Outlander: The Novel will make you wonder if he will ever be tamed. He is the kind of guy who’s on the edge between good and evil. Jamie of Outlander: The Novel is unsure of himself. But one good and immovable thing about him is that he has a good heart.
There are no doubts regarding his moral integrity. He personifies goodness. He’s a perfect combination of an alpha male and a beta guy, one who’s typically the backup for the leaders, somewhat in the background, and not overly outspoken, and a leader, loud and proud, tends to be bossy and pushy.
Yet, what I really like most about Jamie’s character is his motivation. He wants peace, a home, and a wife. It was simple yet powerful.
Part 4: Similar Books To Outlander: A Novel
If you like the time travel concept of Outlander: A Novel, there is a hidden gem I will suggest. This novel, Curse Of The Crescent Moon is new on Dreame App. This is actually the first time traveled fantasy romance story that I encountered in the reading app.
Like with the Outlander: The Novel the premise of Curse Of The Crescent Moon goes too with the female lead being transported back in time when she made a huge mistake in her life yet the curse that comes with the present time where she was transported was she’s no longer mated to the same person.
Although a werewolf fantasy romance, I like the Curse Of The Crescent Moon for its unique plot where as I said like The Outlander: A Novel, it adapted a time travel concept.
The Curse Of The Crescent Moon was about Andrea Catalda’s story.
She lived with a gift from the moon. Andrea Catalda is the Alpha of the Hungry Fangs pack. Without their fangs they are nothing. But the very thing that defines their strength was blamed to be the cause for sudden infertility among all the female werewolves.
Their pack was considered a threat to the entire werewolves’ existence, and so they were hunted. She battled both the present and the afterlife just to keep the man she loves yet when she traveled back to the present time, her beloved beta was no longer the same person whom she had left.
The Curse Of The Crescent Moon also comes with a lot of promise. Fantasy. Werewolf romance. Kick ass heroine. Science fiction and time travel.
