There Is No Place For Fakes is a medieval alternate-world-style book about Philomel, a princess who is largely despised by almost everyone in the royal palace because of her bad attitude.
While this stems from a huge misunderstanding, the princess learned the hard way that for some people, she was the villain in their story.
Philomel came from a powerful royal family, headed by a ruthless emperor who was her father, so it made much sense that she was wild and spoilt for some people.
In addition to that, Philomel didn’t have a mother figure in her life (as her mom died giving birth to her) and her father was emotionally unattached to her. This was why she had a such bad attitude which was noticed by everyone except her. How could she know she was a jerk?
Well she soon found out about this after she stumbled upon a book in her garden, and after going through the explicit contents of the book, her perspective on how bad behavior changed.
According to the contents of the book which weirdly felt like a premonition set in an alternate world, Philomel was a villain.
She was a despicable person who had conspired with her mother to be presented to the emperor as a princess meanwhile she was a fake. She was later busted after she had caused so much trouble and by the order of the emperor, her father, she had been condemned to execution.
Although the real princess (who was discovered later on) pleaded with her father, as virtuous a person as she was, to spare Philomel, he didn’t listen to her. And so Philomel died a gruesome death being executed.
It could’ve been worse because of what the emperor had in mind and the damage she had caused, but they gave her a mild execution fit for a villain of her caliber.
Stunned by the number of details in this book and their similarities in the real world, young Philomel begins to take note of the important timelines mentioned in the book so she won’t end up like the Philomel mentioned in the book.
There was a clear misunderstanding in the book as it was written from the perspective of an outsider who just like everyone misunderstood her actions, so she vowed to prove to everyone that she wasn’t the villain in their story as they thought she was.

Philomel
Philomel is the princess and daughter of emperor Eustis. She has brown hair that looks nothing like her late mother’s blonde hair, nor her father’s hair, and questionable yellow eyes which don’t seem to have been inherited by any of her parents.
In addition to that she is wildly misunderstood by everyone in the palace to be a wild and rude child.
It doesn’t help in any way that her father is cold toward her. If his reason is that his beloved wife died giving birth to her or that Philomel doesn’t have any resemblance with her late mother, no one knows. It could even be because she isn’t gifted like all the royal members in their lineage.
Her father had always been cold towards her, so much so that the amount of time they’ve spent together since she was born can be numbered.
Prince Nazar Avrydon
Prince Nazar Avrydon is Philomel’s finance. He is handsome and well groomed with an attitude that contrasts Philomels. However, in the book that Philomel read, Nazar was the main protagonist who married the real princess Elencia and was free with her in ways that he wasn’t with Philomel.
Philomel understood his attitude toward her as just a prince doing his civic duty. He wasn’t interested in her.
Valencia
Valencia, according to the book Philomel read, is the original princess who was swapped during birth. Unlike Philomel, she looks like a replica of the late queen, with her bright blonde hair serving as a testimony. She is depicted as a nice person as she was the only one who pleaded for Philomel not to be executed.

Chapter Two
Still stunned about the contents of the book, as a young proud princess from a powerful family, Philomel was outraged by the audacity of the writer of the book who blatantly made jest of the royal family by questioning her legitimacy.
She wanted him to be punished, but every time she thought about the details of this book it made her wonder if everyone actually believed she was a villain because of the trouble she always caused.
Ready to disregard the contents of the book for her own food, Philomel was rather shocked when she began to notice that like a premonition, the details of the book were beginning to unfold in her world – the foundation festival was being postponed because of bad weather.
And according to the book it was when the real princess showed up.
She still refused to believe that the book was a premonition, but to avoid making the mistake of underestimating it, she tried to make her father not postpone the festival but ended up causing a scene that angered her father.
Chapter Three
After she had been reprimanded by her father and severely censured by her nanny with some strokes of a cane for causing a scene, Philomel still sneaked out of her room to go speak with her father.
As she worked her way to her dad’s chamber, she overheard the palace workers gossiping about her name and when she paid close attention to their discussion, she realized that they didn’t like her one bit. They were only polite and pretended to like her so that they wouldn’t be punished.
Finally making her way to her father’s chambers Philomel was heartbroken when she accidentally overheard her father confessing that he didn’t have regard for her.
