Like any other Eastern Asian fantasy novels, The Legendary Master’s Wife Chapter 1 opens up by telling us the previous lives of You XiaoMo, one of the male MCs in this novel. You XiaoMo were only around 17-18 years old at times of his death. Entering the death realm means he has to take an aptitude test, and his test result sends him to a miserable life.
At first, in The Legendary Master’s Wife after waking up from his consciousness, You XiaoMo is surprised to know that he instantly has this otherworldly physical appearance, with a green aura that signifies his entry point in being an intermediate-level mage.
The Legendary Master’s Wife Chapter 2
We learn more deeply all about TianXin sect, the second largest sect in Long Xiang continent, in The Legendary Master’s Wife Chapter 2. TianXin sect divides the department into two groups: Warriors and Mages.
As a green aura mage, XiaoMo in this chapter of The Legendary Master’s Wife already feels as if the future is getting darker for him. After all, another probationary mage with his blue aura has already been promoted as an official.
Part 2: Core Story Of The Legendary Master’s Wife
TianXin sect, the second largest cultivational sect in Long Xiang continent, becomes the central focus of the whole storylines of The Legendary Master’s Wife novel. As the second largest sect among other tens-thousands sects in the same continent, it’s not a surprise that TianXin sect has an extremely strict requirements for their disciples.
So, being competent alone is not enough to sustain a person’s position in the ruthless TianXin sect of The Legendary Master’s Wife novel. Anyway, the divisions are divided into two: Warrior or Mage.
TianXin sect’s stringent selection processes don’t stop right there. As we read further into the chapters of The Legendary Master’s Wife, we will see that this sect cares so much about the divisions’ growth, that the Warriors’ and Mages’ training grounds are so separated from each other.
In the meantime, we meet one of the male MCs of The Legendary Master’s Wife. He is a petite-looking guy with several physical features that are typically feminine. He was only around 17-18 years old at times of his death.
XiaoMo’s death immediately transfers him to the world where he should take an aptitude test. As a result, he enters TianXin sect as a probationary mage with the lowest level of colored aura. He only has six months to craft at least a Level 2 medical pill, or, the elders will kick him out!
Meanwhile, in his journeys of crafting and selling pills, XiaoMo in The Legendary Master’s Wife encounters Elder Brother Ling a.k.a. Ling Xiao from the Warrior division. How will the two manage to meet and communicate with each other as a form of their undying love?

Part 3: Meet Yin Ya, The Fabulous Author Of The Legendary Master’s Wife Novel
The current status of The Legendary Master’s Wife by Yin Ya is completed with more than 700 chapter counts (not including the 18 bonus chapters after the final chapter). From my experiences reading Chinese novels, we can consider such amounts of chapters as fewer than the average – after all, it’s normal for Chinese novels these days to have thousands of running chapters.
Still, Yin Ya manages to summarize Eastern Asian elements in this fantasy novel so vividly. For instance, the characters’ fate is described with aura colors that correspond with their highest division levels instead of only relying upon the aptitude testing process after the MC dies.
Another highlight that I get from reading The Legendary Master’s Wife lies in the highly steamy romance scenes involving MoMo a.k.a. Xiao MoMo with his husband, Elder Brother Ling Xiao of the Warrior division in TianXin sect. Yin Ya even makes the (slightly) steamy scenes evident through the book’s cover, which shows the two guys are lying peacefully under a wide-open field.
